Electrooxidative Functionalizations of Dehydroabietic Acid [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, 1987
Abstract Dehydroabietic acid methyl ester (1) was converted into 7-acetoxydehydroabietic acid methyl ester by direct electrooxidation in acetic acid and 7-oxodehydroabietic acid methyl ester by ruthenium dioxide-mediated oxidation. Non-Kolbe type electrodecarboxylation of 1 resulted in the introduction of a double bond into the ring A of

Design and Properties of Natural Rosin-Based Phosphoester Functional Surfactants

open access: yesMolecules, 2023
As an important forestry biomass resource, rosin has a wide range of applications in medicine, adhesives, surfactants and other fields. Using natural dehydroabietic acid as a raw material, dehydroabietic acid-based phosphorus monoester (DPM) and diester (

Amber imitation? Two unusual cases of Pinus resin-coated beads in Iberian Late Prehistory (3rd and 2nd millennia BC) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A group of beads from the artificial cave of La Molina (Lora de Estepa, Sevilla) and Cova del Gegant (Sitges, Barcelona) were made from a biogenic raw material and intentionally covered by a layer of resin.

In-feed resin acids reduce matrix metalloproteinase activity in the ileal mucosa of healthy broilers without inducing major effects on the gut microbiota [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The chicken gut is constantly exposed to harmful molecules and microorganisms which endanger the integrity of the intestinal wall. Strengthening intestinal mucosal integrity is a key target for feed additives that aim to promote intestinal health in ...

Roman diet and trade: evidence from organic residues on pottery sherds recovered at the Roman town of Calleva Atrebatum (Silchester Hants.) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The analysis of organic residues from pottery sherds using Gas-Chromatography with mass-spectroscopy (GC-MS) has revealed information about the variety of foods eaten and domestic routine at Silchester between the second and fourth–sixth centuries A.D ...

Ageing of resin from Pinus species assessed by infrared spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Resins obtained from Pinus genus species have been widely used in very different fields throughout history. As soon as the resins are secreted, molecular changes start altering their chemical, mechanical and optical properties.

Genome of Tripterygium wilfordii and identification of cytochrome P450 involved in triptolide biosynthesis

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
Tripterygium wilfordii is a medical plant that can produce antitumor activity compound triptolide. Here, the authors assemble its genome and identify a cytochrome P450 that can catalyze oxidation of a methyl to the acid moiety of dehydroabietic acid in ...

Photolysis of Abietic Acid to Dehydroabietic Acid and Hydrogen

open access: yesSpectroscopy Letters, 1994
Abstract Abietic acid, which is the terpene acid component of natural colophony, was irradiated at above 300 nm in the presence of benzophenone and a colloidal platinum catalyst. The expected product of dehydroabietic acid was formed to the extent of 81 %, hydrogen generation occurred to a negligibly small amount.

Production of Putative Diterpene Carboxylic Acid Intermediates of Triptolide in Yeast

open access: yesMolecules, 2017
The development of medical applications exploiting the broad bioactivities of the diterpene therapeutic triptolide from Tripterygium wilfordii is limited by low extraction yields from the native plant.
