Canadian Journal of Biochemistry, 196422-Dehydrocholesterol has been isolated from the sterols of the scallop Placopecten magellanicus (Gmelin). The azoyl esters of the unsaponifiable fats were separated into four zones by chromatography. The Δ22-sterol accounted for 31.3% of the chromatographic γ-zone and 14.1% of the total sterol fraction.
