Refolding of Denatured and Denatured/Reduced Lysozyme at High Concentrations [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1996
Refolding of proteins at high concentrations often results in aggregation. To gain insight into the molecular aspects of refolding and to improve the yield of active protein, we have studied the refolding of lysozyme either from its denatured state or from its denatured/reduced state.

Statistical Mechanics of Torque Induced Denaturation of DNA

open access: yes, 1999
A unifying theory of the denaturation transition of DNA, driven by temperature T or induced by an external mechanical torque Gamma is presented. Our model couples the hydrogen-bond opening and the untwisting of the helicoidal molecular structure. We show

Denaturation of Heterogeneous DNA

open access: yes, 1997
The effect of heterogeneous sequence composition on the denaturation of double stranded DNA is investigated. The resulting pair-binding energy variation is found to have a negligible effect on the critical properties of the smooth second order melting ...

Direct observation of large temperature fluctuations during DNA thermal denaturation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper we report direct measurement of large low frequency temperature fluctuations in double stranded (ds) DNA when it undergoes thermal denaturation transition.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Improvement of fibrotic tissue flexibility using 450-nm fractional laser

open access: yesJournal of Biomechanical Science and Engineering
Fibrosis is a condition resulting from tissue damage and inflammation that causes loss of function by hardening the tissue while accumulating collagen. Although there are drugs that inhibit the progression of fibrosis, there are few effective treatment ...

DETERMINAÇÃO ESPECTROFOTOMÉTRICA DE WPNI E HMF EM LEITE UHT ATRAVÉS DA ANÁLISE POR COMPONENTES PRINCIPAIS

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2016
During heat treatment milk suffers changes among which whey proteins insolubility and Maillard reaction can be monitored using spectrophotometric methods by determining the whey protein nitrogen (WPNI) and 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF).

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Increasing the thermal stability of high-protein beverages through the modification of whey proteins through thermal processing

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science
: Colloidal stability during thermal processing and subsequent storage is one of the most important factors in selecting ingredients for high-protein beverages.
