Thermal Conversion of Acetylene‐Containing Cyclotriphosphazene to Graphitic Materials: Controlling Solid‐State Morphology through Heating Rates

open access: yesMacromolecular Chemistry and Physics, EarlyView.
Alkyne‐terminated cyclotriphosphazenes serve as precursors for graphitic materials with tunable properties, controlled through annealing conditions. The results indicate that slow heating produces a brittle film, while rapid heating yields porous materials with high surface area.

In Situ Gels for Nasal Delivery: Formulation, Characterization and Applications

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
Drug delivery through the nasal route offers many advantages, but is hampered by a number of challenges, such as the short drug retention time caused by mucociliary clearance. In situ forming gels, which undergo a sol‐to‐gel transition with specific triggers at the site of action, present real opportunities in this field.

Innovative Thermosensitive Composite Materials: Merging Poloxamer PF‐127 and Polysaccharides for Enhanced Functional Properties

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
The poloxamer Pluronic‐F‐127‐based hydrogels are improved by the implementation of polysaccharides with different concentration ranges and structural organizations. The interactions between the polysaccharide structures and the poloxamer micellar aggregation confer the system better rheological properties and longer drug release times explained by ...

Electrospun Nanofiber Platforms for Photodynamic Therapy: Role and Efficacy in Cancer, Antimicrobial, and Wound Healing Applications

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
Electrospun nanofibers provide a unique platform for photosensitizers, due to their large surface area and biocompatibility, improving both loading efficiency and controlled release. The photosensitizer‐modified nanofibers are activated upon light exposure, and produce reactive oxygen species to treat cancer, pathogen infections, and wounds.
