Characterization of dendrimers
Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews, 2005Dendrimers pertain both to the molecular chemistry world for their step by step controlled syntheses, and to the polymer world because of their repetitive structure made of monomers; thus they benefit from analytical techniques from both worlds. This review is a survey of the main analytical techniques used for the characterization of the chemical ...

Chirality, 1998
The preparation, chiroptical properties and potential application of chiral dendritic polymers are reviewed. Mislow's analysis of the manifestation of chirality, cryptochirality and fuzzy chirality is useful in studying these unique chiral macromolecules. Chirality 10:53–59, 1998. © 1998 Wiley-Liss,Inc.

The first five generations of the stilbenoid dendrimers 1(n) (n = 1-5) have been prepared by a combined coupled synthesis (between the generations of the dendrons 8-12) and convergent synthesis. Wittig-Horner reactions together with a protecting group technique yield monodisperse compounds of high constitutional and configurational purity.

A convergent synthesis in which all trans double bonds were constructed by Wittig-Horner reactions produces dendrimers of the general structure 1. With long-chain alkoxy residues on the periphery of the benzene rings, the first two generations display liquid crystalline behavior.

The convergent synthesis of a new class of chiral dendrimers is described. Owing to their structural resemblance to depsipeptides they are called depsipeptide dendrimers. The ex-chiral pool synthesis starts from (R,R)-, (S,S)-, and meso-tartaric acid as branching units and dipeptides or tripeptides consisting of glycine, (L)-alanine, and (L)-leucine as

Dendrimers and Dendrimer-Polymer Hybrids
1999The synthesis and study of dendrimers has been truly dramatic in the last ten years. This review gives a brief introduction to some of the key concepts and main synthetic strategies in dendrimer chemistry. The focus of the chapter is a survey of modern analytical techniques and physical characterization of dendrimers.
