Dendrimers

2014
Dendrimers are polymeric macromolecules constituted of a repetitive sequence of monomers growing step-by-step from a multifunctional core in a radial iterative fashion, not by polymeric reactions. Their synthesis offers the opportunity to generate monodisperse, structure-controlled architectures resulting in utility in specific biomedical applications.

Dendrimer biocompatibility and toxicity

Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews, 2005
The field of biomedical dendrimers is still in its infancy, but the explosion of interest in dendrimers and dendronised polymers as inherently active therapeutic agents, as vectors for targeted delivery of drugs, peptides and oligonucleotides, and as permeability enhancers able to promote oral and transdermal drug delivery makes it timely to review ...

Dendrimer 101

2007
In this chapter dendrimer basics are reviewed. It is impossible to describe, refer to or even list the related literature (our "dendrimer" database consists of over 7,000 papers and patents), thus selection of references has been made based on personal preference, often choosing clarity over details and overarching principles instead of detailed ...

Dendrimers in Nanomedicine: History, Concept and Properties of Dendrimers

2021
Dendrimers are chemically produced polymeric nanostructures. They are constructed around a single core unit, and several branches emerged from it in a layer by layer manner. Dendrons are the smallest unit of dendrimers and can be divided into three parts: empty core unit, the interior branching units and the periphery end part.

Sequences in Dendrons and Dendrimers

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2004
Sequential incorporation of a variety of functional groups forms the basis for specificity in biomacromolecules. Introduction of such diversity and sequencing ability in artificial macromolecules is fundamentally interesting. In this paper, three different synthetic approaches have been used to build dendrons and dendrimers in which all the monomer ...

Light Harvesting Dendrimers

Photosynthesis Research, 2006
Tree-like dendrimers with decreasing number of chromophores from periphery to core is an attractive candidate for light-harvesting applications. Numerous dendritic designs with different kinds of light-collecting chromophores at periphery and an energy-sink at the core have been demonstrated with high energy transfer efficiency.
