Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Calcium Microdomains in Aspiny Dendrites
Dendritic spines receive excitatory synapses and serve as calcium compartments, which appear to be necessary for input-specific synaptic plasticity. Dendrites of GABAergic interneurons have few or no spines and thus do not possess a clear morphological ...

A distinct semi‐confined inner‐tube chemical vapor deposition geometry enables reproducible, large‐area growth of phase‐pure 2D β′‐In2Se3 from InI + Se precursors. Engineering local vapor transport and optimizing precursor delivery and temperature–time conditions yield uniform continuous films.

Inhibitory control of excitable dendrites in neocortex
1. Many dendrites of pyramidal cells in mature neocortex express active Na+ and Ca2+ conductances. Dendrites are also the target of numerous inhibitory synapses.

This experimental study investigates the thermodynamic limits of the Al–Mn τ ferromagnetic phase within complex‐composition alloys (CCAs). Using nine rare‐earth‐free compositions, it explores a broad region of the pseudobinary AlMnCoFeNi system. The results reveal intricate links between composition, phase stability, and magnetic behavior, highlighting

Si‐doped AlCoCrFeNi high‐entropy alloys are synthesized by mechanical alloying to reveal the effect of Si content and milling time on phase evolution, microstructural refinement, and tribological behavior. A transition from FCC to BCC structure, significant grain refinement, and enhanced hardness and wear resistance are achieved, with the 4 at% Si ...

Developing Dendrites Demonstrate Unexpected Specificity
Our knowledge of how developing dendrites attain their mature state is still rudimentary. In this issue of Neuron, Mumm et al. rely on time-lapsed analysis of ingrowing dendrites of retinal ganglion cells in transgenic zebrafish to show that this process

This work studies the anisotropic behavior of circular notched tensile specimens of Ni‐base superalloy single crystals during high‐temperature tensile creep along [001], [110], and [111]. Correlative scale‐bridging imaging of specimens reveals early rupture along [110] because 1) plastic deformation proceeds faster at notch center; 2) more (brittle ...

Interfacial Confinement Effect of Self‐Adsorbed Monolayer Enables Highly Reversible Zn Metal Anodes
The practical applications of aqueous Zn metal batteries are promising, yet still impeded by the corrosion reactions and dendrite growth on the Zn metal anode. Here, a self‐adsorbed monolayer (SAM) is designed to stabilize the Zn metal anode.
