Dengue retinochoroiditis

open access: yesAnnals of Saudi Medicine, 2012
Dengue is a mosquito-borne infection caused by a flavivirus. I describe the ocular findings observed in two patients infected with dengue virus who presented with acute onset of loss of vision preceded by febrile illness, malaise, generalized fatigue headache, and maculopapular rash.

Will biodiversity actions yield healthy places? A systematic review of human health outcomes associated with biodiversity‐focused urban greening

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract There is growing interest in using urban greening projects to support biodiversity. While there are many potential co‐benefits, the health outcomes resulting from biodiversity‐supporting activities have yet to be synthesized. We conducted a systematic review of health outcomes associated with seven biodiversity‐supporting elements, including ...

Dengue shock

open access: yesJournal of Emergencies, Trauma, and Shock, 2011
Shock syndrome is a dangerous complication of dengue infection and is associated with high mortality. Severe dengue occurs as a result of secondary infection with a different virus serotype. Increased vascular permeability, together with myocardial dysfunction and dehydration, contribute to the development of shock, with resultant multiorgan failure ...

Functional Relevance of CASP16 Nucleic Acid Predictions as Evaluated by Structure Providers

open access: yesProteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Accurate biomolecular structure prediction enables the prediction of mutational effects, the speculation of function based on predicted structural homology, the analysis of ligand binding modes, experimental model building, and many other applications.

Exposure to arboviral infections and risk of rheumatoid arthritis: Findings from the MyEIRA population‐based case‐control study

open access: yesRheumatology &Autoimmunity, EarlyView.
The Malaysian Epidemiological Investigation of Rheumatoid Arthritis population‐based case‐control study examined whether prior exposure to chikungunya and dengue viruses (via IgG seropositivity) is associated with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) risk, stratified by anti‐citrullinated protein antibody (ACPA) status.

Native Taylor/Non‐Taylor Dispersion–Mass Spectrometry (TNT‐MS) Allows Rapid Protein Desalting and Multiplexed, Label‐Free Ligand Screening

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
Native mass spectrometry enables the label‐free study of noncovalent protein‐ligand complexes; however, it is incompatible with conventional molecular biology buffers. By exploiting the dependence of flow dynamics on the hydrodynamic radius, proteins are seperated, including protein‐ligand complexes, from non‐volatile salts and unbound small molecules ...
