Thermodynamics and structure of self-assembled networks

open access: yes, 2002
We study a generic model of self-assembling chains which can branch and form networks with branching points (junctions) of arbitrary functionality. The physical realizations include physical gels, wormlike micells, dipolar fluids and microemulsions.

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Exploring the lifecycle of ferrosilicon for dense media separation in Botswana mining sector: A brief overview

open access: yesScientific African
Ferrosilicon (FeSi), a metallic alloy of iron (Fe) and silicon (Si) has been a critical component in Dense Medium Separation (DMS) processes since the 1950s in the mineral processing industry.

Separation of Membrane Vesicles and Cytosol from Cultured Cells and Bacteria in a Preformed Discontinuous Gradient

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2002
There are many situations when it is necessary to separate rapidly and efficiently a cytosolic and a membrane vesicle fraction from either cultured cells or from bacteria.

The beneficiation of tailing of coal preparation plant by heavy-medium cyclone

open access: yesInternational Journal of Coal Science & Technology, 2018
Dense-medium cyclones have been used for beneficiation of fine particles of coal. In this study, the usability of cyclones in the beneficiation of tailings of a coal preparation plant was investigated.

On the feedback from super stellar clusters. I. The structure of giant HII regions and HII galaxies

open access: yes, 2006
We review the structural properties of giant extragalactic HII regions and HII galaxies based on 2D hydrodynamic calculations, and propose an evolutionary sequence that accounts for their observed detailed structure. The model assumes a massive and young

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

In-medium jet evolution: interplay between broadening and decoherence effects

open access: yes, 2015
The description of the modifications of the coherence pattern in a parton shower, in the presence of a QGP, has been actively addressed in recent studies.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve
