#353 : Microfluidic Preparation of Spermatozoa: A Potential Approach in Assisted Reproductive Technology

open access: yesFertility & Reproduction, 2023
Background and Aims: While density gradient centrifugation (DGC) is a conventional method in sperm preparation, this method can induce reactive oxygen species (ROS) which cause sperm dysfunction, sperm DNA damage, a recent advancement in sperm processing

Low-Density Granulocyte Contamination From Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells of Patients With Sepsis and How to Remove It – A Technical Report

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
Elucidating the mechanisms contributing to the dysregulated host response to infection as part of the syndrome is a current challenge in sepsis research. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells are widely used in immunological studies.

Density Gradient Centrifugation of Rubella Virus [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 1968
Rubella virus was centrifuged in sucrose density gradients. One of two densities could be ascribed to the virus, depending upon the suspending medium used. The virus was found at a density of 1.16 g/cm 3 after centrifugation for 18 hr in sucrose gradients prepared in distilled water.

Isolation of mitochondria from Saccharomyces cerevisiae using magnetic bead affinity purification. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
Isolated mitochondria are widely used to study the function of the organelle. Typically, mitochondria are prepared using differential centrifugation alone or in conjunction with density gradient ultracentrifugation.

Semen preparation methods and sperm telomere length: density gradient centrifugation versus the swim up procedure. [PDF]

open access: yesSci Rep, 2016
Previous studies have shown that both density gradient centrifugation (DGC) and swim up (SU) procedures can select spermatozoa with longer telomeres for assisted reproduction techniques (ART). However, it is unknown which approach is more effective.

Split Nano Luciferase-based Assay to Measure Assembly of Japanese Encephalitis Virus

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2020
Cells infected with flavivirus release various forms of infectious and non-infectious particles as products and by-products. Comprehensive profiling of the released particles by density gradient centrifugation is informative for understanding viral ...
