Molecular Characterization of Circulating DENV-2 During Outbreak in Northern Senegal, Rosso 2018

open access: yes, 2021
Globally 390 millions of people are at risk of dengue infection; over the past 50 years the virus incidence increased thirty-fold. In Senegal, an unprecedented occurrence of outbreaks and sporadic cases was noticed since 2017. In October 2018 an outbreak of DENV-2 was reported in Rosso area in the north of Senegal at the border with Mauritania.

Evaluation of Serum Ferritin Levels and Their Correlation With Clinical Outcomes in Dengue Virus Infection in a Population of Older Adults

open access: yesTropical Medicine &International Health, Volume 31, Issue 5, Page 651-656, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives Prior studies have associated elevated ferritin levels with worse dengue outcomes but data from older adults remain limited. The aim of this study is to evaluate the serum ferritin levels and their correlation with disease severity in a population of older adults.

Non-structural protein-1 is required for West Nile virus replication complex formation and viral RNA synthesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
BACKGROUND: Flavivirus NS1 is a non-structural glycoprotein that is expressed on the cell surface and secreted into the extracellular space, where it acts as an antagonist of complement pathway activation.

Subversion of early innate antiviral responses during antibody-dependent enhancement of Dengue virus infection induces severe disease in immunocompetent mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Dengue is a mosquito-borne disease caused by one of four serotypes of Dengue virus (DENV-1–4). Epidemiologic and observational studies demonstrate that the majority of severe dengue cases, dengue hemorrhagic fever and dengue shock syndrome (DHF/DSS ...

Genotypes of dengue virus circulate in dengue sentinel surveillance in Indonesia

open access: yesHealth Science Journal of Indonesia, 2016
Latar Belakang: Demam berdarah dengue disebabkan oleh infeksi virus dengue (DENV) yang terdiri atas serotipe 1 sampai dengan serotipe 4. Masing-masing serotipe dibedakan lagi menjadi beberapa genotipe.

Alphaviral Capsid Proteins Inhibit Stress Granule Assembly via Competitive RNA Binding With G3BP1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 20, 9 April 2026.
Stress granules exert antiviral functions. This study illustrates a conserved function of alphaviral capsid proteins in modulating stress granules. Oligomerization mediated by a helical motif coupled with a positively charged intrinsically disordered region (IDR) directly competes with G3BP1 for RNA binding, thereby disrupting G3BP1‐RNA liquid–liquid ...

Machine Learning‐Assisted Infectious Disease Detection in Low‐Income Areas: Toward Rapid Triage of Dengue and Zika Virus Using Open‐Source Hardware

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, Volume 2, Issue 2, April 2026.
This study introduces an affordable machine learning platform for simultaneous dengue and zika detection using fluorine‐doped tin oxide thin films modified with gold nanoparticles and DNA aptamers. Designed for low‐cost, hardware‐limited devices (< $25), the model achieves 95.3% accuracy and uses only 9.4 kB of RAM, demonstrating viability for resource‐
