Emergence of a New Strain of DENV-2 in South America: Introduction of the Cosmopolitan Genotype through the Brazilian-Peruvian Border [PDF]
Dengue virus 2 (DENV-2) seriously contributes to dengue-related mortality. It includes five nonsylvatic genotypes, with cosmopolitan being the most widespread with a significant contribution to the total number of DENV-2 cases globally. In South America,

In Vitro Antiviral Activity of α-Mangostin against Dengue Virus Serotype-2 (DENV-2). [PDF]
Dengue virus (DENV), a member of the family Flaviviridae, is a threat for global health as it infects more than 100 million people yearly. Approved antiviral therapies or vaccines for the treatment or prevention of DENV infections are not available. In the present study, natural compounds were screened for their antiviral activity against DENV by in ...

[Phosphoproteomic analysis of human umbilical venous endothelial cells with DENV-2 infection]. [PDF]
To analyze the differentially phosphorylated proteins in DENV-2-infected human umbilical venous endothelial cells (HUVECs) and explore the possible pathogenic mechanism of DENV-2 infection. The total proteins were extracted from DENV-2-infected HUVECs and blank control HUVEC using SDT lysis method.

Dengue is the most prevalent mosquito-borne viral disease and continues to be a global public health concern. Although a licensed dengue vaccine is available, its efficacy and safety profile are not satisfactory. Hence, there remains a need for a safe and effective dengue vaccine. We are currently developing a bivalent dengue vaccine candidate.

Dengue virus serotype 2 (DENV-2) outbreak, French Polynesia, 2019 [PDF]
In 1996–97, the last dengue virus serotype 2 (DENV-2) outbreak occurred in French Polynesia. In February 2019, DENV-2 infection was detected in a traveller from New Caledonia. In March, autochthonous DENV-2 infection was diagnosed in two residents. A DENV-2 outbreak was declared on 10 April with 106 cases as at 24 June.

Natural DENV-2 NS2B/NS3 protease inhibitors from Myristica cinnamomea King
The NS2B/NS3 protease is crucial for the pathogenesis of the DENV. Therefore, the inhibition of this protease is considered to be the key strategy for the development of new antiviral drugs. In the present study, malabaricones C (3) and E (4), acylphenols from the fruits of Myristica cinnamomea King, have been respectively identified as moderate (27.33

The envelope (E) protein is composed of three domains (ED1, ED2 and ED3) with ED3 targeted by the most potent neutralizing antibodies. DENV-2 strains can be divided into six genotypes. Comparison of ED3 of representative strains of the six genotypes revealed that there are nine variable residues that are specific to a given genotype.
