Midkine‐Mediated Microglia Activation after Renal Injury Promotes Cognitive Impairment Following Ischemic Renal Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 3, 14 January 2026.
The mechanism of secondary cognitive impairment following AKI. When renal ischemic injury progresses to fibrosis, renal fibroblasts and damaged tubular cells secrete MDK, which circulates through the bloodstream, crosses the damaged BBB, and accumulates in the hippocampus tissue (an area crucial for learning and memory).

DNase treatment for atelectasis in infants with severe respiratory syncytial virus bronchiolitis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Respiratory insufficiency due to respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) bronchiolitis is partly due to the abundance of thickened mucus and the inability to clear it from the airways.

Application of crossflow ultrafiltration for scaling up the purification of a recombinant ferritin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Ferritin proteins are taking center stage as smart nanocarriers for drug delivery due to their hollow cage-like structures and their unique 24-meric assembly.

Nanoparticle‐Modified Nanofibers Induce Ferroptosis and Stimulate Antitumor Immunity for Melanoma Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 1, 5 January 2026.
This study presents a nanoparticle‐embedded nanofiber (5F/STFM/R‐ES) to inhibit melanoma growth and reduce the risk of metastasis and recurrence. The drug delivery system induces ferroptosis and potentiates immunotherapy through resiquimod (R848) and Fe/Mn‐based metal‐polyphenol networks (TFM).

Immunoproteomic analysis of the excretory-secretory products of Trichinella pseudospiralis adult worms and newborn larvae

open access: yesParasites & Vectors, 2017
Background The nematode Trichinella pseudospiralis is an intracellular parasite of mammalian skeletal muscle cells and exists in a non-encapsulated form. Previous studies demonstrated that T. pseudospiralis could induce a lower host inflammatory response.

Identification of transporter genes from the fungal endophyte Neotyphodium lolii : this thesis is presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science (MSc) in Plant Biology at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand / [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Neotyphodium lolii is an endophytic fungus that lives in the pasture grass, Lolium perenne. They share a mutualistic symbiotic relationship. N. lolii lives out its life cycle within the plant and produces secondary metabolites, including alkaloids ...

Deoxyribonuclease activities in Lactobacillus delbrueckii

open access: yesMicrobiological Research, 2000
DNase activity was examined in the extracellular and subcellular fractions of six non-transformable strains belonging to Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. lactis (L. lactis) and Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus (L. bulgaricus) and compared with the activity present in Lactobacillus johnsonii NCK 65, a transformable strain of Lactobacillus. Interior Decorative VOCs Elevate T Cell‐Mediated Obstructive Lung Disease Risks via Osteogenesis‐Driven Lymphoid‐Biased Hematopoiesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 4, 19 January 2026.
This study utilizes a whole‐body inhalation model to reveal that interior decorative VOCs exposure persistently elevates alveolar T cells. This increase is attributed to lymphoid‐biased hematopoiesis in the bone marrow, which is further driven by IL‐6/IL‐17A‐mediated osteogenic differentiation.

Recombinant Human Deoxyribonuclease Treatment in Hospital Management of Infants with Moderate-Severe Bronchiolitis

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inflammation, 2009
Bronchiolitis is the main cause of respiratory insufficiency in infants, characterized by acute inflammation, edema, necrosis of epithelial cells and increased mucus production.
