Lipid Metabolic Dysregulation Driven by OSMR Mutations Underlies Amyloidogenesis in Primary Localized Cutaneous Amyloidosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
OSMR mutations disrupt STAT5 signaling and AKR1B10‐mediated lipid metabolism, leading to lipid accumulation and protein aggregation in keratinocytes. This metabolic reprogramming drives amyloid deposition in primary localized cutaneous amyloidosis, revealing a mechanistic link between lipid dysregulation and amyloidogenesis.

Isolation and Establishment of Hair Follicle Dermal Papilla Cell Cultures

open access: yes
The isolation of hair follicle dermal papilla cells has become an important technique in the field of cutaneous stem cell biology. These cells can be used for a number of biological and translational purposes.

Comparison of rat hypertrophic scar models: Caudal tension model with superior pathological consistency

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This study compared hypertrophic scar (HS) formation in SD rats at ear, back, and tail sites with or without mechanical tension. The ear model healed spontaneously by day 30. Dorsal full‐thickness excision (1 × 8 cm) produced moderate HS. In contrast, the tail tension model showed the greatest scar thickness, fibroblast density, collagen deposition ...

Hair follicle dermal condensation forms via Fgf20 primed cell cycle exit, cell motility, and aggregation

open access: yeseLife, 2018
Mesenchymal condensation is a critical step in organogenesis, yet the underlying molecular and cellular mechanisms remain poorly understood. The hair follicle dermal condensate is the precursor to the permanent mesenchymal unit of the hair follicle, the ...

Improved Method for the Isolation and Cultivation of Human Scalp Dermal Papilla Cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
We present an improved method for the isolation and cultivation of human scalp anagen hair follicle dermal papilla cells. Following treatment of the isolated dermal papilla with collagenase, incubation in Chang's medium mediates accelerated growth of the

Developmental morphology of claspers and clasper‐glands during maturation in Potamotrygon wallacei (Chondrichthyes: Potamotrygoninae)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The claspers are the copulatory organs in male elasmobranchs, responsible for directing the semen into the female cloaca (C). However, the microscopic morphology of the claspers remains poorly understood. This study describes the morphology of the claspers and clasper glands (CGs) of cururu stingray (Potamotrygon wallacei) at different ...

Mapping the distribution of Meissner corpuscles throughout the human hand: Sex‐ and age‐dependent variations

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Meissner corpuscles are rapidly adapting mechanoreceptors involved in tactile discrimination in human glabrous hand skin. Detailed information on their regional distribution and variation across age, sex, and hand side remains limited. This study mapped Meissner corpuscles in 17 phalangeal and palmar regions from 46 individuals (27 male and 19

Osteopontin Gene is Expressed in the Dermal Papilla of Pelage Follicles in a Hair-Cycle-Dependent Manner [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Hair follicle formation and maintenance involve intimate interactions between follicular epithelial cells and a group of specialized mesenchymal cells known as the dermal papilla.

The Nuclear Receptor Testicular Receptor 4 Orchestrates Cytoskeletal Organization in a G Protein Subunit Alpha 12/Rho‐Associated Protein Kinase–Dependent Manner to Promote Myofibroblast Differentiation and Tissue Fibrosis in Systemic Sclerosis

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Members of the superfamily of nuclear receptors have been implicated in inflammatory processes and pathologic tissue remodeling and have emerged as attractive targets for pharmaceutical intervention. However, the role of testicular receptor 4 (TR4; or Nr2c2) in fibroblast activation and rheumatologic diseases has not yet been investigated ...

Establishment of Rat Dermal Papilla Cell Lines that Sustain the Potency to Induce Hair Follicles from Afollicular Skin [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Dermal papilla cells in culture show a lower proliferative capacity compared with dermal fibroblasts, and lose their in situ potency to induce hair follicles in the epidermis at more than 10 passage numbers.
