pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Multimodal image matching based on multimodality robust line segment descriptor
Although a number of local feature-based methods have been proposed, the multimodality matching is still a challenging problem in object recognition, remote sensing and medical image processing where the image contrast is significantly different.

Characterising power quality disturbances resulting from current limiting fuse operation
This article presents novel and easily implemented tools for characterising electrical disturbances originated by fuse operations. A methodology is described that (with the use of some descriptors) led to identifying electrical disturbances of this kind.

Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Statistical layout of improved image descriptor for pedestrian detection
An automatic and robust approach for pedestrian detection is proposed in natural scene images, even in the presence of clutter and occlusion. An improved statistical descriptor is designed to encode more support vectors, and the dimensionality reduction ...

The human gut microbiome across the life course
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Computational issues in fault detection filter design
We discuss computational issues encountered in the design of residual generators for dynamic inversion based fault detection filters. The two main computational problems in determining a proper and stable residual generator are the computation of an ...
