Desensitization With Imlifidase: Overcoming Immunological Barriers in Kidney Transplantation

open access: yesKidney Medicine
Highly sensitized patients without compatible living donors face prolonged waiting times for a transplant. Prioritization and desensitization strategies often prove insufficient because of logistical challenges, extended treatments, and increased infection risk.

Botulinum Toxin for First Bite Syndrome: A Symptom‐Guided “Follow‐The‐Pain” Injection Strategy

open access: yesHead &Neck, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background To evaluate botulinum toxin type A (BoNT‐A) for First Bite Syndrome (FBS) and assess a symptom‐guided “Follow‐the‐Pain” (FTP) injection strategy in patients with incomplete response to standard treatment. Methods Consecutive patients with postoperative FBS were treated with ultrasound‐guided intraparotid BoNT‐A injection.

Effects of rituximab dose on hepatitis B reactivation in patients with resolved infection undergoing immunologic incompatible kidney transplantation

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
Sensitized patients received desensitization therapy with rituximab for kidney transplantation. However, the impact of rituximab dose on hepatitis B virus (HBV) reactivation is unknown.

Microbiome and aging: Trajectories of microbiome age across human ecosystems and their systemic effects

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
Microbiome age (MA) has emerged as an innovative biomarker of biological aging, reflecting host aging trajectories through dynamic alterations in microbial composition, function, and host–microbe interactions across multiple body ecosystems. Diverse computational strategies—including traditional machine learning, deep learning, and multi‐omics ...

Pregabalin Efficacy in Treatment of Chronic Neurogenic Cough

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
The use of neuromodulators for chronic cough has increased; however, the choice of medication, dosing regimen, and duration are still unclear. This longitudinal study of 95 adults taking pregabalin, 75 mg twice daily, for CNC demonstrated 78% improvement or resolution of cough, 17% unchanged, 1% worse cough, with a mean of 6 weeks of therapy, and only ...

Efficacy and safety of a house dust mites allergoid in patients with allergic rhinitis—PROACAROS study: protocol for a randomized controlled trial

open access: yesTrials
Background There is an important heterogeneity of the clinical research done to date for allergen immunotherapy (AIT). We plan to assess the safety and efficacy of a house dust mite (HDM) polymerized allergen extract mixture for allergic ...

Virtual Reality‐Based Vestibular Rehabilitation for Vestibular Migraine: A Randomized Trial

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
In this single‐blind randomized controlled trial, 40 patients with definite vestibular migraine were randomized 1:1 to home‐based vestibular rehabilitation alone (HB‐VestRehab, n = 20) or the same program plus eight clinic‐based virtual reality sessions (VR‐VestRehab, n = 20).

Loss of tolerance 5 days after discontinuing sulphonamide introduced via desensitization in delayed reaction

open access: yesEinstein (São Paulo), 2019
The fixed drug eruption is a non-immediate hypersensitivity reaction to drug, characterized by recurrent erythematous or violaceous, rounded, well-defined border plaques, which always appear in the same location every time the culprit drug is ...

Basic and clinical immunology – 3016. Successful desensitization to oxaliplatin for metastic colorectal carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yesWorld Allergy Organization Journal, 2013
Method In this case a premedication protocol of dexamethasone 10 mg + diphenhydramine 50 mg + famotidine 20 mg by mouth were administered 13 hours, 6 hours and 1 hour respectively prior to the infusion of 40 mg of oxaliplatin in 1:10000, 1:1000, 1:100, 1:10 graded dilutions. Each dilution was infused over 1 hour under close telemetry monitoring.
