Intrauterine desensitization enables long term survival of human oligodendrocyte progenitor cells without immunosuppression

open access: yesiScience, 2023
Summary: Immune rejection can be reduced using immunosuppressants which are not viable for premature infants. However, desensitization can induce immune tolerance for premature infants because of underdeveloped immune system.

Information Transmission Strategies for Self‐Organized Robotic Aggregation

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
In this review, we discuss how information transmission influences the neighbor‐based self‐organized aggregation of swarm robots. We focus specifically on local interactions regarding information transfer and categorize previous studies based on the functions of the information exchanged.

Modified Oral Metronidazole Desensitization Protocol

open access: yesAllergy & Rhinology, 2014
The Center for Disease Control guidelines recommend desensitization to metronidazole in patients with trichomoniasis and hypersensitivity to metronidazole. There is only one published oral metronidazole desensitization protocol. The purpose of this study

Light‐Driven Quadrupedal Walking Biohybrid Robot With Antagonistic Muscle‐Rings and Inclined Joints

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work presents a light‐driven quadrupedal walking biohybrid robot powered by antagonistic muscle‐rings that achieve alternating walking gait. Optical training improved reproducibility of cultured muscle tissues, while caffeine treatment enhanced contractile force.

Transactivation of the EGF receptor as a novel desensitization mechanism for G protein-coupled receptors, illustrated by dopamine D2-like and β2 adrenergic receptors

open access: yesCellular & Molecular Biology Letters
Transactivation of epidermal growth factor receptors (EGFR) provides intricate control over multiple regulatory cellular processes that merge the diversity of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) with the robust signaling capacities of receptor tyrosine ...

Successful Interim Outcomes of Bortezomib Desensitization on Highly Sensitized Deceased Donor Kidney Transplant Waitlist Patients

open access: yesKidney Research and Clinical Practice, 2014
Highly sensitized (HS) patients seldom have chance to receive kidney transplant. To increase transplantation rate among those population, previous IV immunoglobulin and rituximab desensitization protocol showed good transplant conversion rate, but also ...

Functional Analysis of Ligand‐Gated Chloride Channels in a Cnidarian Sheds Light on the Evolution of Inhibitory Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We uncover a large variety of putative inhibitory ligand‐gated ion channels (LGICs) in the phylum Cnidaria, the sister group to all bilaterian animals. Phylogenetic analysis suggests a complex evolutionary history of inhibitory LGICs with diverse neurotransmitter ligands.

Molecular Mechanisms of P2X Receptor Desensitization [PDF]

open access: yesStructural Dynamics
Extracellular ATP serves as a crucial signaling molecule, present in varying concentrations across diverse cellular environments. The P2X receptor (P2XR) family, which recognizes extracellular ATP, consists of seven subtypes (P2X1R - P2X7R) that form ...

Expedited Desensitization to Canakinumab

open access: yesAllergy & Rhinology, 2020
Introduction Interleukin-1 (IL-1) antagonists have been successful in the management of monogenic auto-inflammatory diseases, notably classic hereditary fever syndromes, such as Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF). Anakinra (Kineret®), a human recombinant

Astrocytic Phenotypic Switching in Posterior Piriform Cortex Orchestrates Bone Cancer Pain–Depression Comorbidity via Purinergic–Noradrenergic Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bone cancer pain and depression share a common origin: astrocytic A2‐to‐A1 transition in the posterior piriform cortex. This phenotypic shift disrupts the ATP–adenosine–A2AR–norepinephrine axis, simultaneously driving nociceptive and affective dysfunction.
