‘Designer drugs’ being sold as ‘bath salts’ and ‘spice’ causing concern.

open access: yes, 2013
NEW DRUGS MARKETED as “legal highs” and “designer drugs” are emerging fast and in great numbers, and authorities are struggling to keep up, a new UN report warned today. So-called new psychoactive substances (NPS), often sold under harmless names like

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

‘No limit’ to new designer drugs.

open access: yes, 2016
There are “virtually no limitations” to the range of chemicals used to produce so-called new psychoactive drugs, the world’s drug law watchdog (INCB) has said..........

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Drug Design and Drug Discovery

open access: yesInternational Journal of Innovative Science and Research Technology (IJISRT)
One of the key forces influencing the advancement of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and pharmacology is the drug industry. The process of finding and creating medications is known as drug discovery. It is a procedure designed to find a substance that has therapeutic value in treating and curing illness.

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Designer drugs pose a severe public danger after hospitalisation of six.

open access: yes, 2016
The hospitalisation of six people after allegedly taking 2C-B is a prime example of the potential dangers of consuming a so-called designer drug....
