ELISA detection of anti‐desmoglein 1 and anti‐desmoglein 3 and indirect immunofluorescence in oral pemphigus: A retrospective study

Oral Diseases, 2021
AbstractObjectiveThe aim of this study was to test the efficacy of autoantibodies to desmoglein 1 and desmoglein 3 detected by ELISA and indirect immunofluorescence in the diagnosis of oral pemphigus and to correlate the antibody titres with the severity of the disease.Materials and MethodsWe report a retrospective cohort study of 22 patients with oral

A potential link between desmoglein 3 and epidermal growth factor receptor in oral squamous cell carcinoma and its effect on cetuximab treatment efficacy

Experimental Dermatology, 2019
Desmoglein (DSG) 3 is overexpressed in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitor cetuximab is widely used for OSCC treatment.

IgA pemphigus reacting exclusively to desmoglein 3.

European journal of dermatology : EJD, 2010
IgA pemphigus is a rare disease which is classified into two major types: subcorneal pustular dermatosis (SPD) and intraepidermal neutrophilic IgA dermatosis (IEN). The autoantigen of the SPD type was identified as desmocollin1 (Dsc1), while the antigen of the IEN type is still unknown.

Pathogenic human monoclonal antibody against desmoglein 3

Clinical Immunology, 2006
Pemphigus vulgaris (PV) is a potentially fatal autoimmune mucocutaneous disease associated with production of IgG autoantibodies to desmoglein 3 (Dsg3), a 130-kDa epidermal cadherin protein. The binding of pathogenic antibody to Dsg3 on epidermal keratinocytes leads to loss of intercellular adhesion and results in intraepithelial blister formation ...

Metalloproteinase 9 is the outer executioner of desmoglein 3 in apoptotic keratinocytes

Oral Diseases, 2006
Objective:  To investigate the specific matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) targeting desmoglein 3 (Dsg3) in apoptotic keratinocytes.Method:  Inhibitor studies on cultured keratinocytes and Western blot analysis. Results:  Blocking of MMP‐9 activity strongly reduces shedding of Dsg3 from cell surface.

Do normal Egyptians possess anti‐desmoglein 3 antibodies?

International Journal of Dermatology, 2014
AbstractBackgroundPemphigus is a group of autoimmune blistering diseases targeting the cell–cell adhesion molecules, desmogleins (Dsgs). Anti‐Dsg antibodies, the hallmark of the disease, were not detected in normal individuals in many populations. In spite of the rarity of pemphigus vulgaris (PV) disease in many parts of the world, PV is not rare in ...

Transgenic rescue of desmoglein 3 null mice with desmoglein 1 to develop a syngeneic mouse model for pemphigus vulgaris

Journal of Dermatological Science, 2011
An active disease mouse model of pemphigus vulgaris (PV) was developed using the adoptive transfer of splenocytes from Dsg3(-/-) mice with a mixed C57BL/6J (B6) and 129/Sv genetic background into B6-Rag2(-/-) mice. Further immunological investigation is needed to resolve the genetic mismatch between host and recipient mice.

IgG-induced clustering of desmogleins 1 and 3 in skin of patients with pemphigus fits with the desmoglein nonassembly depletion hypothesis

British Journal of Dermatology, 2011
In pemphigus circulating IgG is present with the desmosomal cadherins desmoglein (Dsg) 1 and 3. In the epidermis of patients, this IgG deposits in a pattern that is often partly granular and does not reflect the normal Dsg distribution. To understand why the IgG deposits in a granular pattern in the skin of patients with pemphigus. We analysed the ...
