2014Desmogleins (Dsg1-4) are transmembrane adhesion proteins and members of the protein family of desmosomal cadherins which mediate cell-cell adhesion of adjacent keratinocytes inside and outside of desmosomes. Autoantibody-induced loss of binding of these proteins (mainly Dsg1 and Dsg3) results in the phenotype of Pemphigus vulgaris (PV).
