A Bifunctional T3SS‐Effector Simultaneously Cleaves Host MAP Kinase and Inhibits PPM1A Phosphatase
Pathogenic bacteria exploit the metalloprotease effector NleD to subvert host defenses. Structural, biochemical, and infection analyses reveal a bifunctional mechanism by which NleD binds and inhibits the host phosphatase PPM1A while preserving its proteolytic activity against MAPKs.

Fractional Synthesis Rates of Individual Proteins in Rat Soleus and Plantaris Muscles
Differences in the protein composition of fast- and slow-twitch muscle may be maintained by different rates of protein turnover. We investigated protein turnover rates in slow-twitch soleus and fast-twitch plantaris of male Wistar rats (body weight 412 ±

Defect‐Functionalization‐Mediated Tunneling Drives Nonlinear Photoemission in Perovskites
This cover illustration depicts CsPbBr3 perovskite nanocrystals embedded with functionalized defect vacancies, where electrons migrate through defect‐mediated pathways and emit as lightning‐like beams. The imagery visualizes the core discovery of our work—defect‐functionalization‐mediated tunneling enabling nonlinear photoemission, where deep‐level ...

A photocatalytic approach for efficient one‐pot direct lignin depolymerization and subsequent cross‐coupling with alcohols for the production of unsymmetrical aromatic diols has been demonstrated. ABSTRACT Conversion of lignin into chemical products typically involves two separate steps, such as depolymerization and subsequent upgrading of monomers ...

Thermal annealing and exposure to divertor-like deuterium plasma of tailored tungsten oxide coatings [PDF]
In this work we produced tungsten (W) and W oxide (WOx) films by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) with the aim of the addressing modifications of structure and morphology that occur after annealing treatments and high-flux deuterium plasma.

A dual‐network protein hydrogel substantially improves hemostasis and scar‐free healing. The adaptive network maintains intimate tissue contact while providing strong wet adhesion, tunable mechanics, and controlled degradation. Concurrent ROS scavenging and M2 polarization suppress fibrotic pathways, preventing scar formation.

Redirecting a Native Ene‐Reductase Toward Desaturation With Reverse Enantioselectivity
A native ene‐reductase, XenA, was repurposed to catalyze the reverse‐enantioselective desaturation of cyclohexanones. The final variant was obtained through extensive protein engineering, combining PROSS‐guided computational design with mutagenesis and screening.
