Influence of natural polysaccharides on the morphology and properties of hybrid vaterite microcrystals

open access: yesHeliyon
Co-precipitation of biopolymers into calcium carbonate crystals changes their physicochemical and biological properties. This work studies hybrid microcrystals of vaterite obtained in the presence of natural polysaccharides, as carriers for the delivery ...

Dextran sulfate and heparin sulfate inhibit platelet-activating factor-induced pulmonary edema

open access: yes, 1992
We tested the hypothesis that dextran sulfate and heparin sulfate inhibit platelet-activating factor- (PAF) induced pulmonary edema in the isolated perfused guinea pig lung via a charge-dependent mechanism.

Locally targeted cytoprotection with dextran sulfate attenuates experimental porcine myocardial ischaemia/reperfusion injury [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
AIMS: Intravascular inflammatory events during ischaemia/reperfusion injury following coronary angioplasty alter and denudate the endothelium of its natural anticoagulant heparan sulfate proteoglycan (HSPG) layer, contributing to myocardial tissue damage.

Multi‐Component Functionalized Bifidobacterium Longum Hydrogel for Multi‐Target Integrated Therapy of Colitis‐Associated Anxiety and Depression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A pH/MMP dual‐responsive Bifidobacterium longum (BL) hydrogel (INPs@BL@Gel) functionalized with baicalin, tyrosine, and inulin is constructed. It enables gastric protection, inflammation‐targeted release, and prolonged intestinal colonization. By remodeling gut microbiota, elevating beneficial neuroactive metabolites (homovanillic acid, short‐chain ...

Suppression of Liver Uptake of Orally Fed Liposomes by Injection (I.P.)of Dextran Sulfate 500.

open access: yes, 1987
125Iodine labelled human immunoglobulin-G encapsulated liposomes were administered orally to rats. Distribution of radioactivity was checked in various tissues and in portal blood. The effect of dextran sulfate (DS 500,000 m. wt., liver blockade agent)

Nano‐Backpack Engineered Probiotics with Reactive Oxygen Species–Responsive Tungsten Release for Synergistic Therapy of Inflammatory Bowel Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An integrated probiotic system is engineered to execute a programmed therapeutic cascade against inflammatory bowel disease. Upon pathological signals, the system sequentially performs ROS scavenging, tungsten release, and selective pathogen suppression, thereby breaking the oxidative stress–dysbiosis cycle to remodel gut microbiota and reinforce ...

S100A8/A9‐High Macrophages Activate Intestinal Fibroblasts via mCCL6/hCCL15‐CCR1 Axis to Drive Intestinal Fibrosis in Crohn's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
S100A8/A9‐high macrophages are markedly enriched in the stenotic intestinal tissue of patients with Crohn's disease. These profibrotic macrophages secrete mCCL6 in a STAT3‐dependent manner. mCCL6 and its human ortholog hCCL15 activate fibroblasts via the CCR1 receptor, thereby driving excessive collagen deposition.
