Characterization of Dextran‐Sulfate‐Sensitive Cells
Scandinavian Journal of Immunology, 1976The cell type participating in the mitotic response to the polyclonal B‐cell activator (PBA) dextran‐sulfate (DS) was investigated. Cells from murine fetal liver, adult bone marrow, and spleen were studied; only a limited number of all cells present in each organ responded to DS.

The Effect of DEAE Dextran, Dextran Sulfate and Dextran on Porcine Mixed Lymphocyte Reaction
Zentralblatt für Veterinärmedizin Reihe B, 2010Summary The polycation DD moderately stimulated lymph node lymphocytes from pigs and considerably enhanced MLR. The latter effect was especially marked when the reaction was in the descending phase. The MLR was dependent on cell number, and there was a strong correlation between optimal effective DD dose and cell number.

Transport and metabolism of dextran sulfates and the effect of calcium
Biochemical Pharmacology, 1978Abstract The transport and metabolism of [35S]dextran sulfates (DSs) of various molecular weights and sulfur contents in rat intestinal mucosa, and the effects of calcium thereon, were investigated. The in vitro desulfation of DSs was observed largely in the microsomal fraction and was not influenced by the chain length of the glucosidic bond of DSs.

Insulin containing polyethylenimine–dextran sulfate nanoparticles
International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2003An aqueous nanoparticle delivery system has been developed which employs the oppositely charged polymers polyethylenimine (PEI) and dextran sulfate (DS) with zinc as a stabilizer. It is found that the pH of PEI solutions, the weight ratio of the two polymers, and zinc sulfate concentrations all play significant roles in controlling particle size ...

Dextran sulfate as a material for the preparation of a membrane for immunoisolation
Journal of Biomaterials Science, Polymer Edition, 2003Bioartificial pancreas, in which the islets of Langerhans (islets) are enclosed in an artificial membrane to be protected from the host immune system, is expected to be a promising medical device to treat patients who suffer from insulin-dependent diabetes. Our strategy for preparation of a bioartificial pancreas involves utilizing a membrane including

Stimulation by dextran sulfate of denaturation of bovine thrombin
Thrombosis Research, 1987At high thrombin concentration, loss of enzyme activity was proportional to the initial enzyme concentration. At low thrombin concentration, loss of activity followed first order kinetics, indicating mainly denaturation (inactivation) of the enzyme. Dextran sulfate stimulated thrombin denaturation, while serum albumin and polyethylene glycol 6000 (PEG)

Strain-specific aggregation of enterovirus by dextran sulfate
Archives of Virology, 1981Dextran sulfate aggregates several enteroviruses depending not only on the pH, the ionic strength of the medium, but also on the protein content of the fluids and on strain specificities of the viruses. The aggregation effect was measured by filtration experiments, by sedimentation in the ultracentrifuge and by electron microscopy.

Heparin cofactor II is degraded by heparan sulfate and dextran sulfate
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2015Heparan sulfate normally binds to heparin cofactor II and modulates the coagulation pathway by inhibiting thrombin. However, when human heparin cofactor II was incubated with heparan sulfate, heparin cofactor II became degraded. Other glycosaminoglycans were tested, including hyaluronic acid, chondroitin sulfates, dermatan sulfate, and heparin, but ...

Preparation and Properties of Dextran Sulfate−Lysozyme Conjugate
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2009The purpose of this research was to conjugate lysozyme with dextran sulfate (DS) under mild Maillard reaction conditions and to investigate the functional properties of the resulting conjugate. The covalent attachment of DS to lysozyme was confirmed by SDS-PAGE and cation-exchange chromatography.

Mapping the dextran sulfate binding site on CD2
Immunology & Cell Biology, 1990SummaryThis study has analysed the binding of a series of anti‐CD2 monoclonal antibodies (MoAbs) to T cells in the presence of the sulfated polysaccharide dextran sulfate (2·3 sulfates/monosaccharide, 500 kDa) (DXS) to define the DXS binding site on CD2. The results show that DXS interacts primarily at the T112 epitope.
