In mammals, lipids are selectively transported to specific sites using multiple classes of lipoproteins. However, in Drosophila, a single class of lipoproteins, lipophorin, carries more than 95% of the lipids in the hemolymph.

Human Melanogenesis is Stimulated by Diacylglycerol
The intracellular signal pathways that mediate pigmentation in human skin are unknown. We now report that a diacylglycerol (DAG) analogue 1-oleoyl-2-acetyl-glycerol (OAG) 25-100 microns strikingly increased the melanin content of cultured human melanocytes in a dose dependent manner without altering growth rate.

NPR1 induces lipolysis of stored lipid droplet and enhances mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation to fuel gastric cancer metastasis. Specifically, NPR1‐mediated activation of PKG directly phosphorylates and activates HSL at Ser855 and Ser951, thereby driving lipolytic processes.

An Amygdala‐hippocampus Circuit for Endocannabinoid Modulation of Anxiety Avoidance
This study employs three synapse‐specific endocannabinoids (eCB) probes to monitor dynamic eCB release, activate CB1Rs and knockdown 2‐AG biosynthesis enzymes in glutamatergic anterior basolateral amygdala ‐ ventral hippocampus (aBLA–vHPC) circuit. At aBLA–vHPC circuits, activation of CB1Rs reduce anxiety avoidance, and knockdown of eCB biosynthesis ...

Novel genetic engineering technology which increases leaf lipid content modifies the ensiling properties of perennial ryegrass : a thesis presented in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Masters in Agricultural Science at Massey University, Palmerston North [PDF]
A novel strategy to increase the metabolisable energy (ME) yield of pastures has been the development of a genetic engineering technology which increases the leaf lipid content and biomass production of perennial ryegrass (PRG).

CB(1)- and CB(2)-type cannabinoid receptors mediate effects of the endocannabinoids 2-arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG) and anandamide in mammals. In canonical endocannabinoid-mediated synaptic plasticity, 2-AG is generated postsynaptically by diacylglycerol ...

Endocannabinoids and diacylglycerol kinase activity
Mammalian diacylglycerol kinases are a family of enzymes that catalyze the phosphorylation of diacylglycerol to produce phosphatidic acid. The extent of interaction of these enzymes with monoacylglycerols is the focus of the present study. Because of the structural relationship between mono- and diacylglycerols, one might expect the monoacylglycerols ...

Acidosis Forces Fatty Acid Uptake and Metabolism in Cancer Cells Regardless of Genotype
This study demonstrates that biological acidosis, commonly observed in tumors and ischemic conditions, actively promotes the protonation of fatty acids, thereby facilitating the uptake of their neutral forms. Consequently, the preference for lipid metabolism in acid‐exposed cells does not arise from genetic reprogramming that prioritizes lipids as the ...
