Cerebrospinal fluid and serum biomarkers in idiopathic intracranial hypertension: A systematic review

open access: yesHeadache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective This study aimed to systematically review the literature on soluble biomarkers in adults with idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH). Background Idiopathic intracranial hypertension is a multifactorial disorder marked by elevated intracranial pressure without a clear cause.

Correlation study of facial lipid profile differences and skin physiological characteristics in Chinese women aged 19–33 years

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
The facial SC lipid profiles of young Chinese women in the early aging stage exhibited significant changes with age. The average chain length of diacylglycerol, triacylglycerol and short‐chain ceramides decreases with age, while the cholesteryl ester and ceramide EO subclasses increase. Some ceramides correlate positively with TEWL, skin elasticity and

The effects of caffeine and adenosine on the microbiome and lipidome of the scalp

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
At 12 weeks, anti‐hair loss effects were evident with decreased Pseudomonas, Escherichia‐Shigella and Malassezia and increased Talaromyces and Cutibacterium. Lipid levels were impacted, correlating with Escherichia‐Shigella and Talaromyces. Abstract Hair loss is a complex multifactorial process.

PEG‐23 glyceryl distearate, a multifunctional skin‐supporting material, upregulates the expression of factors associated with epidermal barrier and hydration

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
Polyethylene glycol‐23 glyceryl distearate (GDS‐23) forms niosomes and penetrates the skin. Our results suggest that the pharmacological effects following dermal penetration of GDS‐23 may enhance skin homeostasis by improving barrier function and moisture retention.

Activation of G protein‐coupled parathyroid hormone receptors in rat incisor odontoblasts promotes mineralization via cyclic adenosine monophosphate, not Ca2+ signalling: In vitro study

open access: yesInternational Endodontic Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Aim Parathyroid hormone (PTH) and its Gαs‐coupled receptors, PTH receptor, mediate odontoblast differentiation; however, the detailed intracellular adenylyl cyclase‐mediated signalling pathway mediated by the PTH–PTH receptor axis remains to be elucidated. Therefore, we measured the intracellular levels of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP)

Research Review: What we have learned about the endocannabinoid system in developmental psychopathology

open access: yesJournal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry, EarlyView.
Background The endocannabinoid (eCB) system, the primary target of cannabis, has gained significant attention as a potential novel therapeutic approach for treating a range of psychiatric disorders characterized by dysregulation of stress, emotion, and social behavior.

Defining the Enterococcus faecalis Fatty Acid Kinase System of Exogeneous Fatty Acid Utilization

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, EarlyView.
The enteric bacterium Enterococcus faecalis incorporates fatty acids from the medium and elongates any short chains to lengths suitable for membrane lipids. We have delineated the pathway. ABSTRACT Phospholipid synthesis in Firmicute bacteria differs markedly from that of the paradigm Escherichia coli pathway in that acyl phosphates are a key ...
