Hydroxysteroid 17β‐dehydrogenase 13 (Hsd17b13) knockdown attenuates liver steatosis in high‐fat diet obese mice

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Hydroxysteroid 17β‐dehydrogenase 13 (HSD17B13) loss‐of‐function gene variants are associated with a decreased risk of metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Our RNA‐seq analysis of steatotic liver from obese mice ± fenretinide treatment identified major beneficial effects of fenretinide on expression of hepatic genes

Diglyceride kinase in human platelets

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1973
Human platelets contain diglyceride kinase, an enzyme that catalyzes the phosphorylation of diacylglycerol by adenosine 5′-triphosphate to yield phosphatidic acid.

Recent advances in the structure, function and regulation of the volume‐regulated anion channels and their role in immunity

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend The volume‐regulated anion channel (VRAC), composed of leucine‐rich repeat‐containing 8 (LRRC8) proteins, serves both canonical and non‐canonical functions in vertebrate cells. The canonical function of this channel relates to its original description, which is homeostatic regulation of cell volume in response to hypotonic ...

cAMP-stimulated transcription of DGKθ requires steroidogenic factor 1 and sterol regulatory element binding protein 1

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2013
Diacylglycerol kinase (DGK)θ is a lipid kinase that phosphorylates diacylglycerol to form phosphatidic acid (PA). We have previously shown that PA is a ligand for the nuclear receptor steroidogenic factor 1 (SF1) and that cAMP-stimulated expression of ...

SAGEPhos: Sage Bio-Coupled and Augmented Fusion for Phosphorylation Site Detection [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Phosphorylation site prediction based on kinase-substrate interaction plays a vital role in understanding cellular signaling pathways and disease mechanisms. Computational methods for this task can be categorized into kinase-family-focused and individual kinase-targeted approaches.

Crosstalk Between Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor And N-Methyl-D-Aspartate Receptor Signaling In Neurons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Glutamate is the major excitatory neurotransmitter in brain exerting prosurvival effect on neurons via N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) signaling under physiological conditions.

Sphingosine‐1‐phosphate activates LRRC8 volume‐regulated anion channels through Gβγ signalling

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Sphingosine‐1‐phosphate (S1P) binds to Gi protein‐coupled receptor S1PR1. Upon S1PR1 activation, Gβγ is released from the Gαi‐Gβγ heterotrimer, allowing it to recruit phospholipase Cβ (PLCβ) to the plasma membrane. PLCβ cleaves phosphatidylinositol‐4,5‐bisphosphate (PIP2) into inositol trisphosphate (IP3) and diacylglycerol (DAG).
