The quest for the best target genes for RNAi‐mediated pest control
A major challenge for RNAi mediated pest control is the identification of the most effective RNAi target genes from the pool of ~37% of all genes that are essential. Effective RNAi target genes are predominantly highly conserved genes serving basic cellular functions such as protein degradation.

Carbon fiber–reinforced polymer (CFRP) was prepared from carbon fiber (CF) sheet with a diacylhydrazine‐crosslinked matrix polymer. The CF sheet was recovered without damage when the CFRP plate was treated with sodium hypochlorite NaClO solution.

A synthetic approach to 2‐(pentafluoro‐λ6‐sulfanyl)acetamides was developed using an amidation reaction between 2‐(pentafluoro‐λ6‐sulfanyl)acetic acid and various amines. A 2‐(pentafluoro‐λ6‐sulfanyl)acetamide could be transformed into two additional SF5‐containing building blocks, a N‐(2‐SF5‐ethyl)amine and an oxadiazoles.

Cloning, ligand-binding, and temporal expression of ecdysteroid receptors in the diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella [PDF]
BACKGROUND: The diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella (L.) (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae), is a devastating pest of cruciferous crops worldwide, and has developed resistance to a wide range of insecticides, including diacylhydrazine-based ecdysone agonists ...

An Electrosynthesis of 1,3,4‐Oxadiazoles from N‐Acyl Hydrazones
The indirect electrochemical oxidative cyclisation of N‐acyl hydrazones offers an efficient approach to access 1,3,4‐oxadiazoles, an important motif in medicinal chemistry. The DABCO‐mediated reaction enables the selective synthesis of a broad range of these valuable heterocycles from readily available aldehydes and hydrazides.

Repeated applications of wettable sulfur reduced Halyomorpha halys infestation and damage in pome fruit orchards, thus representing a promising tool to counteract this pest in an integrated pest management framework. Abstract BACKGROUND The brown marmorated stink bug, Halyomorpha halys (Stål, 1855) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) is an invasive pest that ...

Control of Spodoptera frugiperda in different larval ínstars in soybean crops [PDF]
Spodoptera caterpillars are emerging as significant defoliators in the soybean crop, causing significant yield losses. Among the species, Spodoptera frugiperda (Smith, 1797) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) stands out among the species due to its strong ability ...

Properties of ecdysteroid receptors from diverse insect species in a heterologous cell culture system – a basis for screening novel insecticidal candidates [PDF]
Insect development is driven by the action of ecdysteroids on morphogenetic processes. The classic ecdysteroid receptor is a protein heterodimer composed of two nuclear receptors, the ecdysone receptor (EcR) and Ultraspiracle (USP), the insect ortholog ...
