Synthesis of the 1,5-Benzothiazepane Scaffold - Established Methods and New Developments. [PDF]

open access: yesChemistryOpen, 2023
The 1,5‐benzothiazepane system can be recognized as a key structure in many pharmaceutical agents. It is considered a privileged scaffold as it displays diverse biological activities, and it is easily accessible. This review discusses established protocols as well as new, sustainable developments toward the synthesis of this heterocyclic framework and ...

Development of Dibenzothiazepine Derivatives as Multifunctional Compounds for Neuropathic Pain

open access: yesPharmaceuticals, 2022
Neuropathic pain is a chronic and sometimes intractable condition caused by lesions or diseases of the somatosensory nervous system. Many drugs are available but unfortunately do not provide satisfactory effects in patients, producing limited analgesia and undesirable side effects.

Successful treatment of severe quetiapine intoxication with CytoSorb hemoadsorption

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Volume 47, Issue 9, Page 1471-1474, September 2022., 2022
Plasma quetiapine and norquetiapine levels during the course of Continuous Veno Venous Hemodialysis (CVVHD) + 2 hemoadsorption treatments over 40 h. Note that the pre‐adsorber inlet levels (black triangles) simultaneously represent systemic levels and therefore the overall decrease in plasma levels.

Effects of the combination of second‐generation antipsychotics on serum concentrations of aripiprazole and dehydroaripiprazole in Chinese patients with schizophrenia

open access: yesGeneral Psychiatry, Volume 34, Issue 2, April 2021., 2021
Background Aripiprazole (ARI) is often prescribed alone or in combination with other second‐generation antipsychotics (SGAs) to treat patients with schizophrenia. However, this may increase the potential clinical significance of drug–drug interactions.

Unsymmetrically Substituted Dibenzo[b,f][1,5]-diazocine-6,12(5H,11H)dione—A Convenient Scaffold for Bioactive Molecule Design [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
A novel approach for the synthesis of unsymmetrically substituted dibenzo[b,f][1,5]diazocine-6,12(5H,11H)diones has been developed. This facile three-step method uses variously substituted 1H-benzo[d][1,3]oxazine-2,4-diones (isatoic anhydrides) and 2 ...

Electrochemical Oxidation of Derivatives of Dibenzodiazepin. Dibenzothiazepin and Dibenzoxazepin

open access: yesAnalytical Letters, 1979
Abstract Clozapin exhibits two anodic waves at ≥ 1 M H2SO4, but at lower acidities only the first two-electron wave remains. Cyclic voltammetry shows an ECE mechanism. Reversibility decreases at ≥ 10−4 M concentrations, due to formation of an adsorptiob film. In nonaqueous solvents two irreversible one-electron waves appear.

Quetiapine and Wolff‐Parkinson‐White Syndrome

open access: yesCase Reports in Psychiatry, Volume 2020, Issue 1, 2020., 2020
Quetiapine is occasionally associated with cardiovascular adverse effects such as QTc prolongation. QTc prolongation is a side effect that requires monitoring in order to avoid more serious cardiac complications. One particular understudied area is the potential for antipsychotics to elicit electroconduction abnormalities in patients with Wolff ...

Clozapine combined with different antipsychotic drugs for treatment resistant schizophrenia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background Between 40% and 70% of people with treatment-resistant schizophrenia do not respond to clozapine, despite adequate blood levels. For these people, a number of treatment strategies have emerged, including the prescription of a second anti ...

Characterizing the mechanism of quetiapine distribution in lipid-core nanocapsules pseudo-phases using a validated LC/UV method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Quetiapine is an atypical antipsychotic used to treat schizophrenia. However, despite great interest for its chronic therapeutic use, quetiapine has some important side effects such as weight gain induction.
