Novel Mechanism Using Differential Gears for the Electromechanical Brake
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2014<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">As is well known, the brake systems of vehicles are used in order to decelerate or stop the vehicle while the driving. The operational principle of the brake is the conversion of kinetic energy into thermal energy.

A Fault Diagnostics Algorithm for Differential Brake Control System
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2003Abstract This paper presents a novel analytical redundancy technique for fault diagnostics of a differential brake control system. The proposed diagnostic algorithm builds upon an adaptive observer to generate residuals and identify faults. By judiciously utilizing the residual information, it is possible to detect faults at the component level ...

Optimal Rollover Prevention With Steer by Wire and Differential Braking
Dynamic Systems and Control, Volumes 1 and 2, 2003This paper uses Model Predictive Control theory to develop a framework for automobile stability control. The framework is then demonstrated with a roll mode controller which seeks to actively limit the peak roll angle of the vehicle while simultaneously tracking the driver’s yaw rate command.

Emergency driving support algorithm with steering torque overlay and differential braking
2011 14th International IEEE Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSC), 2011This paper presents an emergency driving support (EDS) algorithm which supports the driver to avoid collision using motor driven power steering (MDPS) and electronic stability control (ESC). If driver tries to avoid rear-end collision using steering input, the EDS system is activated and supports the driver to have appropriate steering angle and ...

Rollover prevention with Predictive Control of differential braking and rear wheel steering
2013 6th IEEE Conference on Robotics, Automation and Mechatronics (RAM), 2013This paper contributes to increase knowledge about a Model Predictive Control (MPC) approach to untripped rollover prevention of heavy vehicles which make a panic lane change maneuver in order to avoid an obstacle in the path. Active differential braking control shows good effect on limit roll angle during an urgent situation. However, at the same time

Enhancements in vehicle stability with yaw moment control via differential braking
2009 IEEE International Conference on Vehicular Electronics and Safety (ICVES), 2009A new yaw moment control algorithm with differential braking control is presented in this paper. The proposed controller utilizes the anti-lock braking system (ABS) to apply differential braking between the right and left wheels to generate the yaw moment. A fuzzy logic based ABS controller is also designed.
