A search for interstellar H2O(+) in diffuse clouds
Searches for H2O(+) toward HD 187982, Zeta Oph, O micron Per, and Zeta Per have yielded significant upper limits for H2O(+) when compared with existing models for similar lines of sight. Using available oscillator strength data, the column density for HD 187982, for example, cannot exceed 3 x 10 to the 12th per sq cm H2O(+) molecules.

The CS molecule in diffuse interstellar clouds
The CS J = 2-1 emission line at 98 GHz has been searched for in 10 diffuse molecular clouds. CS column densities are derived by performing statistical equilibrium calculations for the rotational population distribution which includes collisional excitation by electrons as well as by neutral species.

NaH and LiH in diffuse interstellar clouds
It has been suggested that NaH may be detectable in diffuse interstellar clouds. We discuss the photodissociation process of NaH and calculate the rate of destruction by the interstellar radiation field. In the unshielded field, the mean lifetime is about 10 years. There appears to be no efficient gas-phase mechanism for the production of NaH. If it is

Molecules in diffuse interstellar clouds [PDF]
The existence of diatomic molecules in the diffuse interstellar gas has been known since the late thirties and from that time numerous observations have been made, at visible and ultraviolet wavelengths, of interstellar molecular absorption lines in the spectra of bright stars.

The Role of Benzonitrile Chlorination Explored by Dissociative Electron Attachment
Experimental and theoretical dissociative electron attachment study of 2‐ and 4‐chlorobenzonitrile. The dissociative electron attachment process to ortho‐ and para‐chlorobenzonitrile was investigated in the 0–12 eV energy range with a crossed‐beam time‐of‐flight mass spectrometer, supported by quantum chemical scattering calculations.

Structure and Spectroscopy of Criegee Intermediates in Gas‐ and Aqueous Environments
ABSTRACT The dynamics and spectroscopy of the small (H2COO) and large (CH3CHOO) Criegee intermediates (CIs) in the gas phase, inside/on water droplets, on amorphous solid water (ASW) and in bulk water are investigated using validated energy functions.

Large molecules in diffuse interstellar clouds
The effects of the presence of a substantial component of large molecules on the chemistry of diffuse molecular clouds are explored, and detailed models of the zeta Persei and zeta Ophiuchi clouds are constructed. The major consequence is a reduction in the abundances of singly charged atomic species.

Soft X‐Ray Emission From Saturn's Magnetosheath Part I: 3D Modeling From MHD Data
Abstract Saturn's magnetosheath hosts a mixed population of water‐group neutrals and solar wind plasma. We present a 3‐D model of soft X‐ray emission by ion‐neutral charge exchange in the near‐equatorial magnetosheath. The model employs MHD simulation data of plasma properties at Saturn, Enceladus‐genic neutral populations extrapolated from existing ...

Abstract We report new measurements of high‐energy protons ejected by the sun during the May 2024 Ganon superstorm. Our observations were made by the Neutron Spectrometer (NS) on the Psyche spacecraft, which was located at a solar distance of approximately 2 AU and a Sun‐Earth‐Probe separation angle of 75°.

On the CH(+) ion in diffuse interstellar clouds
