Patient therapy outcome modeling in cancer organoids is improved by cancer‐associated fibroblasts and organoid assembly convolution

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived organoids (PDOs) from pancreatic, colorectal, and gastric cancers were used to evaluate standard and experimental therapies. Incorporating cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) into organoid cultures improved patient therapy outcome prediction.

Macrophage inhibitory cytokine 1, syncollin and thrombospondin-2 in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma and chronic pancreatitis differentiation

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
IntroductionPancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a highly lethal malignancy with a rising global incidence. Differentiating PDAC from non-malignant pancreatic conditions, particularly chronic pancreatitis (CP), remains challenging due to ...

Procoagulant Disorders in Patients with Newly Diagnosed Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMedicina, 2020

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Clinical Outcomes of Patients with Colorectal Cancer Who Underwent Comprehensive Genomic Profiling: A Single-institution Non-comparative Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesJournal of the Anus, Rectum and Colon
Objectives: Although some studies have evaluated the effectiveness of comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) in solid tumors, the effectiveness of CGP in metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) has not been evaluated using detailed real-world long-outcome ...

Digestive Tract

open access: yes, 2023
AbstractNuclear medicine studies can evaluate functional abnormalities of the digestive tract in children. Repeat episodes of gastroesophageal reflux (GER) are associated with clinical gastrointestinal and/or respiratory manifestations of variable severity. GER scintigraphy, the “milk scan,” can detect GER and aspiration. Clinical signs and symptoms of

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for

Pythiosis of the digestive tract in sheep [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Diagnostic Investigation, 2012
Cutaneous and rhinofacial infections by Pythium insidiosum have previously been reported in sheep in Brazil. In the current study, a new form of pythiosis involving the alimentary tract of 2 nursing lambs from 2 different farms in the semiarid region of Brazil is described.
