A binary deletion channel with a fixed number of deletions [PDF]

open access: yesCombinator. Probab. Comp. 24 (2015) 486-489, 2013
Suppose a binary string x = x_1...x_n is being broadcast repeatedly over a faulty communication channel. Each time, the channel delivers a fixed number m of the digits (m

Modelling Organizational Preservation Goals to Guide Digital Preservation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Digital Curation, 2009
This paper is an extended and updated version of the work reported at iPres 2008. Digital preservation activities can only succeed if they go beyond the technical properties of digital objects. They must consider the strategy, policy, goals, and constraints of the institution that undertakes them and take into account the cultural and institutional ...

Topology preserving representations of compact 2D manifolds by digital 2-surfaces. Compressed digital models and digital weights of compact 2D manifolds. Classification of closed surfaces by digital tools [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
Using digital topology approach, we construct digital models of closed surfaces as the intersection graphs of LCL covers of the surfaces. It is proved that digital models of closed surfaces are digital 2-dimensional surfaces preserving the geometry and topology of their continuous counterparts.

Challenges and opportunities in the evolving digital preservation landscape: reflections from Portico

open access: yesInsights: The UKSG Journal, 2018
There has been tremendous growth in the amount of digital content created by libraries, publishers, cultural institutions and the general public. While there are great benefits to having content available in digital form, digital objects can be extremely

Digital (co)homology modules and digital Pontryagin algebras [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
In the current study, we explore digital homology and cohomology modules, and investigate their fundamental properties on pointed digital images. We also examine pointed digital Hopf spaces and base point preserving digital Hopf functions between the pointed digital Hopf spaces with suitable digital multiplications, and explore the digital primitive ...

Complexities of Digital Preservation in a Virtual Reality Environment, the Case of Virtual Bethel

open access: yesInternational Journal of Digital Curation, 2018
The complexity of preserving virtual reality environments combines the challenges of preserving singular digital objects, the relationships among those objects, and the processes involved in creating those relationships.
