Transforming Construction Waste into High-Performance Alkali-Activated Paste with Microstructural and Predictive π Modelling Insights

open access: yesBuildings
The construction industry is among the most resource-intensive sectors, generating nearly 40% of global CO2 emissions and over two billion tonnes of construction and demolition waste (CDW) annually. This study investigates the sustainable reuse of CDW in

Scaling Turbulent Combustion Fields in Explosions

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
We considered the topic of explosions from spherical high-explosive (HE) charges. We studied how the turbulent combustion fields scale. On the basis of theories of dimensional analysis by Bridgman and similarity theories of Sedov and Barenblatt, we found

Three-dimensional analysis of circular tunnel headings using Broms and Bennermarks’ original stability number

open access: yes, 2020
The stability of a tunnel face is described by the combined effects of surcharge load, self-weight of the soil, and internal supporting pressure. This combination can cause failure in either blowout or collapse.

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Proppant Transportation in Cross Fractures: Some Findings and Suggestions for Field Engineering

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
The proppant transportation is a typical two-phase flow process in a complex cross fracture network during hydraulic fracturing. In this paper, the proppant transportation in cross fractures is investigated by the computational fluid dynamics (CFD ...

On Augmented Dimensional Analysis

open access: yesActa Applicandae Mathematicae
AbstractWe present an innovative approach to dimensional analysis, referred to as augmented dimensional analysis and based on a representation theorem for complete quantity functions with a scaling-covariant scalar representation. This new theorem, grounded in a purely algebraic theory of quantity spaces, allows the classical $\pi $ π

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Assessing theoretical flow velocity profile and resistance in gravel bed rivers by field measurements

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Engineering, 2018
Previous studies showed that integrating a power velocity profile, deduced applying dimensional analysis and the incomplete self-similarity condition, the flow resistance equation for open channel flow can be obtained.

Clustering, Classification, and Factor Analysis in High Dimensional Data Analysis

open access: yes, 2016
Clustering, classification, and factor analysis are three popular data mining techniques. In this dissertation, we investigate these methods in high dimensional data analysis.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.
