Dimerization of ADAR1 modulates site-specificity of RNA editing
Adenosine-to-inosine editing is catalyzed by adenosine deaminases acting on RNA (ADARs) in double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) regions. Although three ADARs exist in mammals, ADAR1 is responsible for the vast majority of the editing events and acts on thousands ...

The stress-responsive, SK5 subclass, dehydrin gene, CaDHN, has been identified from the Arctic mouse-ear chickweed Cerastium arcticum. CaDHN contains an unusual single cysteine residue (Cys143), which can form intermolecular disulfide bonds.

Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Electron-beam-promoted fullerene dimerization in nanotubes: insights from DFT computations
Fullerene dimerization inside a peapod is analyzed at DFT level by characterizing the stationary points and deriving the energy profile of the initial and reversible process named phase 1.

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Malaria is one of the major life-threatening health problems worldwide. Artesunate is the most potent antimalarial drug to combat severe malaria. However, development of drug resistance, short plasma half-life, and poor bioavailability limit the efficacy

ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.
