Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Effect of dimerization on dynamics of spin-charge separation in Pariser-Parr-Pople model: A time-dependent density matrix renormalization group study

open access: yes, 2011
We investigate the effect of static electron-phonon coupling, on real-time dynamics of spin and charge transport in $\pi$-conjugated polyene chains.

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Dimer‐Specific FokT‐seq Reveals DNA‐Binding Dimerization and Novel Genomic Targets of TDP‐43

open access: yesAdvanced Science
In postmortem brain tissues of patients with sporadic amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), the dimerization ability of TAR DNA‐binding protein 43 (TDP‐43) is impaired, accompanied by an accumulation of insoluble TDP‐43.

Excitations in one-dimensional S=1/2 quantum antiferromagnets

open access: yes, 2003
The transition from dimerized to uniform phases is studied in terms of spectral weights for spin chains using continuous unitary transformations (CUTs).

Ground State Properties of One Dimensional S=1/2 Heisenberg Model with Dimerization and Quadrumerization

open access: yes, 1998
The one dimensional S=1/2 Heisenberg model with dimerization and quadrumerization is studied by means of the numerical exact diagonalization of finite size systems.

The Dimerization Interface in VraR is Essential to Induction of the Cell Wall Stress Response in Staphylococcus aureus: A potential Druggable Target [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Background Staphylococcus aureus remains a medical challenge in the treatment of bacterial infections. It has acquired resistance to commonly used antibiotics, and to those considered to be the last weapons in treating staphylococcal infections, such as

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Inhibition of Homophilic Interactions and Ligand Binding of the Receptor for Advanced Glycation End Products by Heparin and Heparin-Related Carbohydrate Structures

open access: yesMedicines, 2018
Background: Heparin and heparin-related sulphated carbohydrates inhibit ligand binding of the receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE). Here, we have studied the ability of heparin to inhibit homophilic interactions of RAGE in living cells and
