Investigation of Potential Risks in Bio‐Based Food Contact Materials (FCMs) From Microbial Exploitation of Agricultural Wastes: Case Studies of Bacterial Cellulose and Nisin

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT In the context of the circular economy and the increasing demand for safe and sustainable packaging, this work addresses the safety assessment of food contact materials (FCMs) derived from agro‐industrial by‐products. Despite growing interest in these bio‐based materials, the literature still lacks a structured safety‐assessment framework able

A second monoclinic polymorph of N-(2,4-dinitrophenyl)-2,4-dinitroaniline

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2013
The title compound, C12H7N5O8, was previously described in space group P21/n with Z = 4 [Wu et al. (2007). Acta Cryst. E63, o4194]. The current monoclinic P21/c polymorph was obtained from a mixed solution of dichloromethane and hexane.

Synthesis of a new diarylhydrazone derivative and an evaluation of its in vitro biofilm inhibition and quorum sensing disruption along with a molecular docking study

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Research, 2023
Molecules that target quorum sensing and biofilm inhibition are useful antimicrobials. In this regard, a new diarylhydrazone was synthesized and characterized using infrared, high-resolution mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance experiments as

Pesticide Contamination in the Hair of Children From Colonia San Juan, a Rural Community in Paraguay

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, Volume 18, Issue 3, Page 354-369, March 2026.
Hair analysis in children from a rural community in Paraguay reveals exposure to organophosphates, pyrethroids, neonicotinoids, fungicides, herbicides, and endocrine disruptors, highlighting the urgent need for stricter environmental protections and preventive health measures. ABSTRACT Chronic exposure to pesticides can cause carcinogenic, reproductive,

Inhibition ofToxoplasma gondiiReplication by Dinitroaniline Herbicides

open access: yesExperimental Parasitology, 1996
Submicromolar concentrations of several dinitroaniline herbicides have been found to specifically inhibit intracellular replication of the protozoan parasite Toxoplasma gondii. IC50 concentrations for T. gondii survival were approximately 100 nM for ethalfluralin and oryzalin and approximately 300 nM for trifluralin.

Response of Sesame to Selected Herbicides Applied Early in the Growing Season

open access: yesInternational Journal of Agronomy, 2018
Growth chamber experiments were conducted to evaluate the response of sesame to PRE and POST applications of soil residual herbicides. PRE applications of acetochlor and S-metolachlor at 1.26 and 1.43 kg ai·ha−1 showed little or no sesame injury (0 to 1%)

Untargeted Profiling of Fungicide Resistance‐Related Extracellular Metabolites of Phytophthora infestans Using Two‐Dimensional Gas Chromatography Coupled With Time‐of‐Flight Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 75, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
Untargeted extracellular metabolite profiling of fungicide‐resistant and ‐sensitive strains of Phytophthora infestans revealed that several pathways were regulated to develop fungicide resistance, and the resistant strain showed a stronger (time‐ and dose‐dependent) metabolic response under fungicide exposure, and resistance was associated with a ...

Vertical migration of some herbicides through undisturbed and homogenized soil columns

open access: yesOrbital: The Electronic Journal of Chemistry, 2008
A laboratory experiment was conducted by using three herbicides, two from dinitroaniline group and one from thiocarbamate group to know their degree of downward movement (leachability) through soil columns and their contribution in ground water ...

Glycerol Carbonate from Dimethyl Carbonate and Glycerol Over TBD‐Functionalized SBA‐16

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 17, Issue 24, December 19, 2025.
The transesterification reaction of glycerol with dimethyl carbonate (DMC) is an attractive path for glycerol carbonate production. A heterogeneous solid base catalyst was developed, combining strong basicity with high surface area and structural stability. Glycerol conversion reached 97% with a high glycerol carbonate yield.
