Comprehensive Characterization of Bihormonal Cells and Endocrine Cell Lineages in Mammalian Pancreatic Islets

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study integrates dual‐reporter genetics, imaging flow cytometry, and single‐cell sequencing to characterize rare bihormonal cells in mouse and human pancreatic islets. Gcg⁺Ins⁺ cells resemble α‐cells rather than transitional states. Cross‐species gene network analysis refines islet cell taxonomy and reveals human‐specific δ‐cell subtypes ...

The vaccine coverage and vaccine immunity status and risk factors of non-protective levels of antibodies against vaccines in children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis: cross-sectional Russian tertiary Centre study

open access: yesPediatric Rheumatology Online Journal, 2021
Background Immunosuppressive drugs, incomplete vaccine coverage, immune system dysregulation might be factors of a low level of anti-vaccine antibodies in JIA patients. The study aimed to evaluate vaccine coverage, post-vaccine immunity, and risk factors

Calcitonin Gene‐Related Peptide (CGRP)‐Expressing Neurons in the External Lateral Parabrachial Area Regulate Pain‐Induced Sleep Disturbances

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lynch et al., identified novel targets on the wake‐promoting pathways that can effectively treat pain‐induced sleep disturbances. The authors demonstrated that Calcitonin gene‐related peptide‐expressing neurons (CGRP) in the external lateral parabrachial nucleus (PBelCGRP) serve as the primary relay node for pain stimuli that cause sleep disruption ...

Does counseling increase sustained benefit of HAART among prison inmates after release to the community? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The lack of sustained effectiveness of HAART after release to the community of HIV-infected inmates treated in prison was well demonstrated by Springer et al. in a recent article.

Parvalbumin Interneuron‐Dependent Hippocampal Neurogenesis Evoked by Prolonged Rhythmic Light Flicker

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that prolonged rhythmic 40 Hz light flicker enhances spatial learning by stimulating PV interneuron‐dependent neurogenesis. The light flicker selectively activates PV interneurons, which enhances GABAergic support for the integration of immature neurons in the adult dentate gyrus.

Rare human skin infection with Corynebacterium ulcerans: transmission by a domestic cat [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Corynebacterium ulcerans is mainly known for its ability to cause animal infections. Some strains of C. ulcerans produce diphtheria toxin, which can cause life-threatening cardiopathies and neuropathies in humans. Human cutaneous C. ulcerans infection is

Akkermansia Muciniphila Alleviates Severe Acute Pancreatitis via Amuc1409‐Ube2k‐Foxp3 Axis in Regulatory T Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Akkermansia depletion correlates with acute pancreatitis (AP) severity. A. muciniphila and its protein Amuc_1409 mitigate pancreatic/systemic inflammation by expanding Tregs and IL‐10. Mechanistically, Amuc_1409 binds Ube2k, inhibiting Foxp3 ubiquitination to stabilize Treg differentiation and IL‐10 production, countering SAP‐induced SIRS/CARS ...

Pregnancy has a minimal impact on the acute transcriptional signature to vaccination. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Vaccination in pregnancy is an effective tool to protect both the mother and infant; vaccines against influenza, pertussis and tetanus are currently recommended.

Mycosis Fungoides, Sézary Syndrome, and Cutaneous B‐Cell Lymphomas: 2025 Update on Diagnosis, Risk‐Stratification, and Management

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Disease Overview Primary cutaneous lymphomas are a rare and heterogeneous group of extranodal lymphomas that require the integration of clinical and histopathologic data for classification and treatment. Diagnosis Diagnosis and disease classification is based on histopathologic review and immunohistochemical staining of an appropriate skin ...
