Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

The diameter of directed graphs

open access: yesJournal of Combinatorial Theory, Series B, 2005
Let \(D\) be a strongly connected Eulerian oriented graph with \(n\) vertices and minimum out-degree \(\delta\). The author shows that the diameter of \(D\) is at most \(4n/(2\delta+ 1)+ 2\). This bound, which strengthens an earlier bound by \textit{A. V. Knyazev} [Mat.

Directed random geometric graphs [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Complex Networks, 2019
Abstract Many real-world networks are intrinsically directed. Such networks include activation of genes, hyperlinks on the internet and the network of followers on Twitter among many others. The challenge, however, is to create a network model that has many of the properties of real-world networks such as power-law degree distributions ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Unordered Love in infinite directed graphs

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1992
A digraph D=(V,A) has the Unordered Love Property (ULP) if any two different vertices have a unique common outneighbor. If both (V,A) and (V,A−1) have the ULP, we say that D has the SDULP.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Evaluating topological ordering in directed acyclic graphs

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Graph Theory and Applications, 2021
Directed acyclic graphs are often used to model situations and problems in real life. If we consider the topological ordering of the graph as a process of arranging the vertices in the best possible way considering the constraints caused by the direction
