Dataset of vibrational and acoustic measurements for squeal analysis from the laboratory brake setup Friction-Induced Vibration and noisE at Ecole Centrale de Lyon (FIVE@ECL) [PDF]
This data article comprises raw records to investigate the dynamic behavior of a brake system during controlled braking tests and its squeal characterization through the generation of friction-induced vibration.

Influence of Brake Pad Temperature Variation on the Squeal Noise Characteristics of Disc’s In-Plane Vibration Mode [PDF]
This study investigated the squeal noise characteristics of the in-plane mode of the disc in a disc brake system as influenced by the temperature of the brake pad.

A novel study on the reduction of non-exhaust particulate matter emissions through system vibration control [PDF]
The need to reduce non-exhaust particulate matter emissions is of paramount importance as they pose repercussions on human lives and the environment. In this study, a novel way to limit emissions is proposed based on the minimization of the vibration of ...

Dynamics of a brake system governed by modified Burridge-Knopoff-Pad model [PDF]
Despite widespread investigations to improve on the performance of automobile brake systems, the undesirable phenomenon of disc brake squeal noise remains a very challenging problem to solve. Consequently, we thus propose a basic theoretical brake system

In recent years, the problem of automotive brake squeal during steering braking has attracted attention. Under the conditions of squealing, the loading of sprung mass is transferred, and lateral force is generated on the tire, resulting in stress and ...

To quantify the marginal value of waterfowl habitat across the contiguous United States, we used a continental‐scale energetics‐based model of daily dabbling duck movement during the non‐breeding period in both a warm and a cold winter. We quantified the effect of removing each habitat grid cell on overall duck survival. We found that the importance of

Abstract Using untargeted metabolomics, we aimed to characterise the systemic impact of environmental heat stress during exercise. Twenty‐three trained male triathletes (V̇O2peak${\dot V_{{{\rm{O}}_2}{\rm{peak}}}}$ = 64.8 ± 9.2 ml kg min−1) completed a 30‐min exercise test in hot (35°C) and temperate (21°C) conditions.

Bet on innovation, not Environmental, Social and Governance metrics, to lead the Net Zero transition
Abstract The conventional Net Zero perspective with its emphasis on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) metrics represents linear cause‐and‐effect thinking. That is, implementation of the metrics will then change company behaviour with the eventual effect of a successful Net Zero transition.

A minimal model for the influence of equilibrium positions on brake squeal
Abstract The phenomenon brake squeal has been an ongoing topic for decades, both in the automotive industry and in science. Although there is agreement on the excitation mechanism of brake squeal, namely self‐excitation due to frictional forces between the disk and the pad, in the subject of squeal it is very complex to discover all relevant effects ...
