Adverse prognosis gene expression patterns in metastatic castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We aggregated a cohort of 1012 mCRPC tissue samples from 769 patients and investigated the association of gene expression‐based pathways with clinical outcomes. Loss of AR signaling, high proliferation, and a glycolytic phenotype were independently prognostic for poor outcomes, and an adverse transcriptional feature score incorporating these pathways ...

Recovering vector displacement estimates in quasistatic elastography using sparse relaxation of the momentum equation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
We consider the problem of estimating the $2D$ vector displacement field in a heterogeneous elastic solid deforming under plane stress conditions. The problem is motivated by applications in quasistatic elastography. From precise and accurate measurements of one component of the $2D$ vector displacement field and very limited information of the second ...

TOMM20 as a driver of cancer aggressiveness via oxidative phosphorylation, maintenance of a reduced state, and resistance to apoptosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.

On the Displacement for Covering a Unit Interval with Randomly Placed Sensors [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
Consider $n$ mobile sensors placed independently at random with the uniform distribution on a barrier represented as the unit line segment $[0,1]$. The sensors have identical sensing radius, say $r$. When a sensor is displaced on the line a distance equal to $d$ it consumes energy (in movement) which is proportional to some (fixed) power $a > 0$ of the

Plasma lipidomic and metabolomic profiles in high‐grade glioma patients before and after 72‐h presurgery water‐only fasting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.

Enhancing patient engagement in cancer research: a focus on patient‐centric approaches to scientific discovery

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Patient engagement involves actively including patients in healthcare decisions and research to ensure care and studies align with their needs. This approach improves outcomes, trust, and communication while fostering collaboration between patients and professionals.
