Targeting the AKT/mTOR pathway attenuates the metastatic potential of colorectal carcinoma circulating tumor cells in a murine xenotransplantation model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells

Understanding the role of ions and water molecules in the NaCl dissolution process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The dissolution of NaCl in water is one of the most common everyday processes, yet it remains poorly understood at the molecular level. Here we report the results of an extensive density functional theory study in which the initial stages of NaCl ...

Effect of Soil Organic Matter, Soil pH, and Moisture Content on Solubility and Dissolution Rate of CuO NPs in Soil.

open access: yesEnvironmental Science and Technology, 2019
The objectives of this research were to quantify the impact of organic matter content, soil pH and moisture content on the dissolution rate and solubility of copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs) in soil, and to develop an empirical model to predict the ...

The role and reasons for the dissolution of Parliament in the countries of the region [PDF]

open access: yesZbornik Radova Pravnog Fakulteta u Nišu, 2019
Establishing a balance between the legislative and the executive power, including the presence of constitutional mechanisms of mutual control, is an essential feature of parliamentarism.

Effective collection of volatile organic compounds in water using rimming flow with odorant-binding proteins

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2015
Water solution of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in air, especially explosive materials, is required to detect VOCs by biosensors efficiently. We developed a collecting device like olfactory mechanism of animals: thin film of water including odorant ...

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

Determination of ADP/ATP translocase isoform ratios in malignancy and cellular senescence

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The individual functions of three isoforms exchanging ADP and ATP (ADP/ATP translocases; ANTs) on the mitochondrial membrane remain unclear. We developed a method for quantitatively differentiating highly similar human ANT1, ANT2, and ANT3 using parallel reaction monitoring. This method allowed us to assess changes in translocase levels during cellular

Partitioning and Dissolution Behavior of Metal-based Engineered Nanoparticles in Sediment and Soil Suspensions

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2013
Nowadays engineered nanoparticles are being used in a whole range of commercial applications and are therefore expected to inevitably find their way into the environment where their fate and behavior are still largely unknown. The objective of this study

On the Mechanism of the Dissolution of Quartz and Silica in Aqueous Solutions

open access: yesACS Omega, 2017
Quartz and silica are common materials, and their dissolution is of significant interest to a wide range of scientists. The kinetics of the dissolution of quartz and silica have been measured extensively, yet no clear theory of dissolution is available ...
