Alternative oral exemestane formulation: Improved dissolution and permeation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2010
Exemestane (EXE) is an irreversible aromatase inactivator used for the treatment of advanced postmenopausal breast cancer. EXE is orally active but its bioavailability is about 5% due to its low solubility in water and the extensive first pass effect. It is known that cyclodextrin (CD) complexation enhances solubility and oral bioavailability of poorly

Improvement of Dissolution and Hypoglycemic Efficacy of Glimepiride by Different Carriers [PDF]

open access: yesAAPS PharmSciTech, 2012
Effects of tromethamine (Tris), polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP-K25), and low molecular weight chitosan (LM-CH) on dissolution and therapeutic efficacy of glimepiride (Gmp) were investigated using physical mixtures (PMs), coground mixtures, coprecipitates (Coppts) or kneaded mixtures (KMs), and compared with drug alone.

An Approach for Improvement of the Dissolution Rate of Gliclazide

open access: yesDissolution Technologies, 2009
Gliclazide is an anti-diabetic drug that is poorly soluble in water. This paper describes an approach to improve the dissolution rate of gliclazide by using solid dispersions (SDs) in polyethylene glycol 4000 (PEG 4000). The phase-solubility behavior of gliclazide in the presence of various concentrations of PEG 4000 in 0.1 N HCl at 37 °C was obtained.

Improving Nefiracetam Dissolution and Solubility Behavior Using a Cocrystallization Approach [PDF]

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2020
In this work, we are the first to identify thirteen cocrystals of Nefiracetam, a poor water-soluble nootropic compound. Three of which were obtained with the biocompatible cocrystallization agents citric acid, oxalic acid, and zinc chloride. These latter have been fully structurally and physically characterized and the solubility, dissolution rate, and

Improvement of Dissolution in the SOLIDprep Sampler by Ultrasonics

open access: yesJournal of AOAC INTERNATIONAL, 1973
Abstract This paper describes a novel device which is capable of disintegrating and homogenizing tablets within a very short time and with a minimum of investment. The modification on the existing SOLIDprep Sampler I can be performed in-house. An increase of assay efficiency of at least 50% was observed when these modifications were made.

A systematic investigation of secondary phase dissolution in Mg–Sn alloys

open access: yesJournal of Magnesium and Alloys, 2019
As-cast Mg–Sn alloys (3, 6, and 9 wt% Sn) were solution treated at 653, 703 and 753 K (380, 430 and 480 °C) for 1, 4, 8, 12 and 24 h to determine the variation of secondary phase with respect to Sn content, temperature and time.

Cavitation-assisted decontamination of yttria from graphite of different densities

open access: yesUltrasonics Sonochemistry, 2021
Yttria coated graphite crucibles are widely used to handle molten refractory and radioactive metals like uranium and plutonium. However, the coated layer suffers damages like cracking and peeling off owing to thermal cycles.
