pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Effect of surface dissolution by oxalic acid on flotation behavior of minerals

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2019
The surface dissolution pretreatment using oxalic acid as an organic agent was applied for modifying the surface properties of minerals and improving the selectivity of ilmenite flotation from its usual accompanied gangue minerals such as olivine ...

Lime stabilisation for earthworks: a UK perspective [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Lime stabilisation is a versatile technique applied during earthworks operations. Modern soil recycling units are much more efficient at pulverising fill material and intermixing the added binder/water than machinery available 20 years ago.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Solubility and Dissolution Rate Enhancement of Bilastine by Solid Dispersion Technique

open access: yesIraqi Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences
Bilastine (BLS) is non-sedating new-brand H1 antihistamine that has selective peripheral effects, the drug has a problem of an insufficient aqueous solubility and accordingly low dissolution rate, and low bioavailability. Solid dispersion (SD) is one of

Equilibrium solubility versus intrinsic dissolution: characterization of lamivudine, stavudine and zidovudine for BCS classification

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2013
Solubility and dissolution rate of drugs are of major importance in pre-formulation studies of pharmaceutical dosage forms. The solubility improvement allows the drugs to be potential biowaiver candidates and may be a good way to develop more dose ...

A longitudinal analysis of moving desires, expectations and actual moving behaviour [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Residential mobility theory proposes that moves are often preceded by the expression of moving desires and expectations. Much research has investigated how individuals form these premove thoughts, with a largely separate literature examining actual ...

Improvement of dissolution rate of indomethacin by inkjet printing

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2015
The aim of this study was to prepare printable inks of the poorly water soluble drug indomethacin (IMC), fabricate printed systems with flexible doses and investigate the effect of ink excipients on the printability, dissolution rate and the solid state properties of the drug.
