EMT‐associated bias in the Parsortix® system observed with pancreatic cancer cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The Parsortix® system was tested for CTC enrichment using pancreatic cancer cell lines with different EMT phenotypes. Spike‐in experiments showed lower recovery of mesenchymal‐like cells. This was confirmed with an EMT‐inducible breast cancer cell line.

Photometric Solutions for Detached Eclipsing Binaries: selection of ideal distance indicators in the SMC

open access: yes, 2001
Detached eclipsing binary stars provide a robust one-step distance determination to nearby galaxies. As a by-product of Galactic microlensing searches, catalogs of thousands of variable stars including eclipsing binaries have been produced by the OGLE ...

Tumor clusters with divergent inflammation and human retroelement expression determine the clinical outcome of patients with serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Analysis of treatment‐naïve high‐grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC) and control tissues for ERVs, LINE‐1 (L1), inflammation, and immune checkpoints identified five clusters with diverse patient recurrence‐free survivals. An inflammation score was calculated and correlated with retroelement expression, where one novel cluster (Triple‐I) with high ...

Analyzing Indicators Affecting Commercial Property Value in Metro Station Accessible Area Using Walking Time Consumption: Case of Xi’an, China

open access: yesComplexity, 2020
In studies investigating the property value enhancements along metro lines, study ranges in most cases are measured in Euclidean distance. However, city roads are not always straight, and Euclidean distance sometimes does not equal to actual distance the

Type Ia Supernovae as Extragalactic Distance Indicators [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Because Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) are not perfect standard candles, it is important to be able to use distance-independent observables (DIOs) to define subsets of SNe Ia that are ``nearly standard candles'' or to correct SN Ia absolute magnitudes to make them nearly homogeneous (``standardized candles'').

EGFR‐STAT3 activation provides a therapeutic rationale for targeting aggressive ETV1‐positive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cotargeting EGFR and STAT3 with Erlotinib and TTI‐101 impairs both 2D and 3D growth of ETV1‐overexpressing prostate cancer cells by disrupting a self‐sustaining ETV1–EGFR positive feedback loop that promotes EGFR and STAT3 expression and phosphorylation (activation).

Near Miss Detection Using Distancing Monitoring and Distance-Based Proximal Indicators

open access: yesIEEE Access
Despite efforts to improve road safety, accidents persist due to insufficient evidence from manual police reporting, non-optimized detection algorithms, and technical limitations in real-time video processing and modelling.

Large-Scale Bulk Motions Complicate the Hubble Diagram

open access: yes, 2006
We investigate the extent to which correlated distortions of the luminosity distance-redshift relation due to large-scale bulk flows limit the precision with which cosmological parameters can be measured.

Distance Eigenvalues and Forwarding Indices of Circulants

open access: yesTaiwanese Journal of Mathematics, 2018
In this paper, we give the distance spectral radii of several classes of circulant graphs. We also list the elements in the first rows of their corresponding distance matrices, with which all other distance eigenvalues can be obtained. In addition, we get the relationships between the distance spectral radii and forwarding indices of circulant graphs ...

Association of high‐dose radioactive iodine therapy with PPM1D‐mutated clonal hematopoiesis in older individuals

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In thyroid cancer patients, high‐dose (≥7.4 GBq) radioactive iodine therapy (RAIT) was associated with a higher prevalence of clonal hematopoiesis (variant allele frequency >2%) in individuals aged ≥50 years (OR = 2.44). In silico analyses showed that truncating PPM1D mutations conferred a selective advantage under these conditions.
