National culture dimension of power distance in the Baltic States

open access: yesJournal of Business Economics and Management, 2005
The paper presents a calculation for the values of power distance index in the countries of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia using a mathematical model that is based on the correlations between power distance index values of the original research conducted ...

Setback distance impacts on transport and antibiotic resistance phenotypes of fecal indicators

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences & Environment, 2020
Although the land application of livestock manure has numerous agronomic benefits, runoff from manured fields can degrade water quality. Setbacks instruct a minimum distance be maintained between manure application and surface waters.

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Blue Supergiants and the Zero-point of the Tully–Fisher Relation: A Path to a New Independent Test of the Hubble Constant

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Blue supergiant distances of nearby galaxies obtained with the flux-weighted gravity–luminosity relationship are used for a measurement of the zero-points of Tully–Fisher relationships at different photometric passbands.

The Calibration of Novae as Distance Indicators

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1995
The problem of the correct calibration of the maximum magnitude versus rate of decline relationship for Galactic novae is discussed, on the basis of the properties of the nova populations of M31 and the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC). We have compared the "observed" maximum magnitude versus rate of decline (hereafter MMRD) distributions of M3 1 and LMC ...
