Studying the values of distribution of chromium-nickel steel microhardness using statistical methods
Problem. Mathematical statistical methods are used to solve material science problems. New phases may be formed that are inherent only in this type of external action in the process of mechanical tests. In the presence of a multiphase structure, the use of the microhardness method provides measurement results that do not always correspond to the phase ...

The natural granite includes various hard and brittle minerals with different material behaviors. In this paper, the discrete distribution parameters of microhardness and microbrittleness are proposed to describe its micron-scale material behavior. The objective is to evaluate and predict the precision grindability of various granites by using its ...

Surface roughness and wettability determines the stability of bone-implant integration. Stable implants can be found in those with a rough and hydrophilic surface. Sandblasting and surface mechanical attrition treatment (SMAT) are among the current techniques to obtain surface with such typical properties.

Plasma sprayed ceramic coatings invariably form with at least 5–10% porosity due to inherent deficiency in the spray technology. On many occasions, the volume fraction, size and distribution of the pores alone do not suffice to predict properties such as microhardness.

Microhardness and density distributions in polymeric powder compacts
European Polymer Journal, 1980Abstract Recent research has shown that solid components can be produced by cold compaction of polymeric powders. To assist in the development of production techniques for these components, an experimental study was performed to examine the microhardness, density and pressure distributions within compacts produced from polyvinylidene chloride.

Nano- and Microhardness Distribution in the Carburized Case of Nb-Microalloyed Gear Steel
Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance, 2020The characteristics of in-depth hardness distribution in the high-temperature carburized case of Nb-microalloyed gear steel before and after cryogenic treatment were studied by nano-indentation method and Vickers hardness method. The results showed that there was no significant difference in Vickers hardness of the carburized case before and after ...

A representation of the microhardness distribution and its consequences for wear prognoses
Wear, 1986Abstract If small microcontacts arise and there is a transition from elastic to plastic contacts, wear prognoses must take account of the statistical behaviour of hardness. The method of “recording hardness measurement” described here is shown to be a practical way of determining the distribution functions of the microhardness.
