The microhardness distribution of the diode laser epitaxially deposited IN718 alloy coating was investigated. The Laves concentration in different regions of the coating was measured by binarization processing. The strengthening phase of the coating was characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM).

Abstract Thermal spray coatings of new MoB/CoCr cermets were developed. The mechanical behavior of HVOF-sprayed MoB/CoCr novel composite coatings was evaluated via Vickers microhardness. Microstructure of the coatings on 316L stainless steel substrates, as well as powders, were studied with optical microscopy, scanning electron ...

Distribution of Twins around a Microhardness Indenter in Close-packed Hexagonal Metals
Nature, 1964ATTEMPTS have been made to explain the hardness anisotropy of close-packed hexagonal metals in terms of the slip and deformation twinning modes which are available1–5. As a result, simplified models of the stress system around an indenter have been developed in which the shear stresses acting adjacent to the indenter facets are resolved in the slip and

Materials Characterization, 2010
In this study, the effects of heat input on the distribution of microhardness of tungsten inert gas (TIG) arc welded hot-extruded AZ61 magnesium alloy joints were investigated. The results show that with an increase of heat input, the distributions of microhardness at the top and bottom of the welded joints are different because they are determined by ...
