Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Distribution of constant terms of irreducible polynomials in ℤₚ[x] whose degree is a product of two distinct odd primes [PDF]
We obtain explicit formulas for the number of monic irreducible polynomials with prescribed constant term and degree q₁q₂ over a finite field, where q₁ and q₂ are distinct odd primes. These formulas are derived from work done by Yucas.

On product sets of arithmetic progressions
On product sets of arithmetic progressions, Discrete Analysis 2023:10, 31 pp. The _multiplication table problem_ is a very simply stated question of Erdős: how many numbers appear in the multiplication table of the numbers from 1 to $n$?

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Deciphering the Gene Regulatory Landscape Encoded in DNA Biophysical Features
Summary: Gene regulation in higher organisms involves a sophisticated interplay between genetic and epigenetic mechanisms. Despite advances, the logic in selective usage of certain genomic regions as regulatory elements remains unclear. Here we show that

Distribution Modulo One of αpγ + β for Special Classes of Primes
Let α,β∈R with α≠0, and let γ∈(0,5/6). Define the set M1 to consist of primes p such that p+2 is almost prime, and let M2 be the set of primes of the form p=a2+b2+1.

Synthesis of Iron Oxide Yellow from Spent Pickling Solutions
This paper demonstrates a simple environment-friendly synthesis route of iron oxide yellow (α-FeOOH) using spent pickling solutions as raw material. After abundant laboratory experiments, we finally pinned down the best procedure.
