Radiation and Divergence Times of Batoidea
Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology, 2020We present a time-scaled analysis based on morphological characters to estimate the divergence ages for the major batoid clades. Two approaches were used: tip-dating, which allows the extinct taxa to be included as terminals, assessing the phylogenetic relations and their divergence time simultaneously; and basic and minimum branch length (‘a ...

Multiversion divergence control of time fuzziness
Proceedings of the third international conference on Information and knowledge management - CIKM '94, 1994Epsilon Serializability (ESR) has been proposed to manage and control inconsistency in extending the classic transaction processing. ESR increases system concurrency by tolerating a bounded amount of inconsistency. In this paper, we present multiversion divergence control (mvDC) algorithms that support ESR with not only value but also time fuzziness in

Determining Divergence Times With Protein Clocks
The Biological Bulletin, 1999ported was a divergence time for prokaryotes and eukaryotes of only slightly more than two billion years ago. In line with this result, the average resemblance of these enzymes between Bacteria (a.k.a. eubacteria) and Eukarya (a.k.a. eukaryotes) was 37% identity.

Stretched Times and Divergent Time Scales
1995Relaxation is examined for glassy materials. A defect-diffusion model is investigated in detail which involves a distribution of transition rates. Behavior is divided into two classes depending on if the mean transition time is longer or shorter than the duration of the experiment.

Thinking Skills and Creativity, 2021
Abstract Performance on divergent thinking (DT) tests varies by different testing conditions. Although many studies documented that DT performance increases when more time is provided, it still remains unanswered whether DT performance continues to increase linearly or follows a rather non-linear pattern as more time is allowed.

Theoretical Population Biology, 1988
A statistical method of estimating population splitting times is developed. We consider three populations, with an assumed known tree topology for their phylogenetic tree. From simulation studies, we find that the method of moments performs very well, in particular for both large number of loci and divergence times, in estimating genetic divergence ...

Divergence measures for time-frequency distributions
Seventh International Symposium on Signal Processing and Its Applications, 2003. Proceedings., 2003Distance measures between statistical models or between a model and observations are widely used concepts in signal processing. They are commonly used in solving problems such as detection, automatic segmentation, classification, pattern recognition and coding. In recent years, there has been an interest in extending these distance measures to the time-

Estimating divergence times in large phylogenetic trees. [PDF]
A new method, PATHd8, for estimating ultrametric trees from trees with edge (branch) lengths proportional to the number of substitutions is proposed. The method allows for an arbitrary number of reference nodes for time calibration, each defined either as absolute age, minimum age, or maximum age, and the tree need not be fully resolved.

Divergence Times of Eutherian Mammals
Science, 1999In the continuing debate about the timing of the origin of major extant placental clades, both proponents of a divergence after the Cretaceous-Tertiary (K-T) boundary and those advocating divergence deep within the Cretaceous too often miss what the Late Cretaceous record of placentals ...
