Pyrosequencing analysis of fungal assemblages from geographically distant, disparate soils reveals spatial patterning and a core mycobiome [PDF]
Identifying a soil core microbiome is crucial to appreciate the established microbial consortium, which is not usually subjected to change and, hence, possibly resistant/resilient to disturbances and a varying soil context. Fungi are a major part of soil

Antimicrobial peptide (AMP)‐loaded nanocarriers provide a multifunctional strategy to combat drug‐resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis. By enhancing intracellular delivery, bypassing efflux pumps, and disrupting bacterial membranes, this platform restores phagolysosome fusion and macrophage function.

Soil microbial communities in restored and unrestored coastal dune ecosystems in California [PDF]
Most restoration projects involving invasive plant eradication tend to focus on plant removal with little consideration given to how these invasives change soil microbial communities.

Bacteria‐Responsive Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Antimicrobial Therapy
Bacteria‐responsive nanocarriers are designed to release antimicrobials only in the presence of infection‐specific cues. This selective activation ensures drug release precisely at the site of infection, avoiding premature or indiscriminate release, and enhancing efficacy.

Rhinitis, Ocular, Throat and Dermal Symptoms, Headache and Tiredness among Students in Schools from Johor Bahru, Malaysia: Associations with Fungal DNA and Mycotoxins in Classroom Dust. [PDF]
There are few studies on rhinitis and sick building syndrome (SBS) among students in tropical countries. We studied associations between levels of five fungal DNA sequences, two mycotoxins (sterigmatocystin and verrucarol) and cat allergen (Fel d 1 ...

Agricultural management and plant selection interactively affect rhizosphere microbial community structure and nitrogen cycling. [PDF]
BACKGROUND:Rhizosphere microbial communities are key regulators of plant performance, yet few studies have assessed the impact of different management approaches on the rhizosphere microbiomes of major crops.

Stage-specific DNA methylation in a fungal plant pathogen [PDF]
Significantly more 5-methylcytosine residues were found in the DNA from the dormant sclerotia of Phymatotrichum omnivorum than in the DNA from the metabolically active mycelia of the fungus, as shown by high-pressure liquid chromatography of acid-hydrolyzed DNA digests and by restriction of the DNA with the isoschizomers MspI and HpaII.

A series of vancomycin‐antimicrobial peptide conjugates is synthesized and evaluated to identify the optimal combination. Vm‐MSI, selected from multiple candidates, exhibited potent activity against vancomycin‐resistant and Gram‐negative bacteria by disrupting membranes and inducing oxidative stress, thereby expanding vancomycin's antibacterial ...

RNAseq reveals hydrophobins that are involved in the adaptation of aspergillus nidulans to lignocellulose [PDF]
Background Sugarcane is one of the world’s most profitable crops. Waste steam-exploded sugarcane bagasse (SEB) is a cheap, abundant, and renewable lignocellulosic feedstock for the next-generation biofuels.
