Ribosomal DNA spacer probes for yeast identification: Studies in the genus Metschnikowia

Yeast, 1991
AbstractTo test whether DNA probes derived from ribosomal DNA spacer sequences are suitable for rapid and species‐specific yeast identification, a pilot study was undertaken. A 7·7 kb entire ribosomal DNA unit of the type strain of Metschnikowia reukaufii was isolated, cloned and mapped.

Authentication of Medicinal Dendrobium Species by the Internal Transcribed Spacer of Ribosomal DNA

Planta Medica, 2001
Herba Dendrobii (Shihu) is a commonly used Chinese medicine derived from the stem of several orchid species belonging to the genus Dendrobium. It is rather expensive and adulteration is frequent. Proper authentication of the medicinal species is necessary to protect consumers and support conservation measures.

Structure of the central spacer region of extrachromosomal ribosomal DNA in Physarum polycephalum

Journal of Molecular Biology, 1982
Abstract We have analyzed the sequence organization of the central spacer region of the extrachromosomal ribosomal DNA from two strains of the acellular slime mold Physarum polycephalum . It had been inferred previously from electron microscopy that this region, which comprises about one third of the 60 kb ‡ palindromic rDNA, contains a complex ...
